I am an engineer, I keep tabs on my hot tub water chemistry, because I've found that if I stay on top of it, there's less cleaning and the water stays nice and clear. The Pool Store strips cost $30 dollars for 100, these are about half the cost, but are they as good. Well, here's my opinion. Both strip colors accuracy is subjective, I did a side by side comparison from my hot tub water and they gave me what I would call "in family" results, in this case both told me that Total Alkalinity in the hot tub was a little low. In reality, that's about all you can ask from a test strip, there are no definitive numbers to work from, so in my opinion, these test strips are just as good as the ones I've been purchasing from the pool store. None of them are that great, it's a little bit of test strip and it's a little bit of experience in maintaining the chemistry of the hot tub. So, save some money, I would recommend these.

The two values I use most when keeping my hot tub treated are pH and bromine levels, both of which these strips test. The bromine level tells me if I have an adequate disinfecting quality to my water and the pH tells me where I need to balance the alkalinity/acidity properties of my water. Low bromine means I need to add more bromine pellets and the pH is either treated with a pH up or pH down powder. Not much more to it than that. Other than adding some "clarity" solution if the water gets hazy.So for spa maintenance, these strips are a must. The reason for my star level is the cost. I have purchased other strips, that test a few more aspects, for less. These average out to about $.1598 per strip whereas I have found similar strips (again, that test even more) for about half, at $.0799 per strip.

I tested the strips against other brands and they performed equally as well. Does not measure as many parameters as other brands, but I only need the basics. For the price, it's a good deal.

I tried these and tested them against 2 other brands of test strip I use. The alkalinity reading was much lower on these test strip than the others I have been using. My standards were reading 80 and these were reading 40 or lower. Can no recommend these.

I use test strips to ensure my hot tub is within acceptable ranges. I used these along with 2 other kinds of test strips i have and these aligned with results they provided. The thing that makes these a bit better are they are easy to read.

This tests all values quickly and is easy to read. I wish they also had total chlorine as this will determine if the pool/spa needs shock or not. Without total chlorine, you will have to rely on the smell which is not accurate in open spaces like a pool.
