For authentic pronunciations. A natural born Spanish speaker reads the Spanish words. Slowly, but spanish is fast language to my ears.There is a volume level difference between the English speaker and the Spanish speaker. Not a problem for me.

My daughter works in an area where she services different people throughher job. Sometimes she has problems communicating with the people becausewe did not teach her Spanish at home when she was a kid. My husband hadproblems in the grades because he did not know any English until he startedthe first grade. In New Mexico we often have a language called Spanglish,and his problems started from not knowing English. Spanish for Dummieswas a gift to her along with our sorrow for not teaching Spanish at home.Spanish for Dummies has gone a long way with her speaking to those whostill do not know English well. Because we were driving across the country, my husband and I thought it would be a good opportunity to try to learn more Spanish than we had learned in school.When the chirpy, English speaking half of the teaching team started talking, we immediately started having doubts about the product. When she cheerily insisted that we should "have fun!" while learning to speak Spanish, we were even more doubtful. After we started doing to the lessons, we had to stop after about 1/2 hour and we were never able to stomach the idea of listening to them again.A waste of money.

I like this one since it wastes little time. you are always learning something, and it clearly says which subjects are where and which tape.
