The lid can be easily opened by simply taking a pair of side cutters and removing the red pin lock. OR You have to raise it up to unlock and unscrew the lid. This is an important safety issue if you have children around the chemicals. It’s really not that hard to open once you get the hang of it but kids usually won’t figure it out. SpaPure chemicals were recommended by my swim spa manufacturer and is all I use. They are a good price for the high quality and makes crystal clear spa water management much better than cheaper brands.

MPS shock is expensive no matter where it's purchased but price isn't the only consideration either. Formulations vary as does effectiveness. After trying multiple brands over the years, this has become my all-time favorite.If my math is correct (and it probably isn't), I believe the directions suggest a dosage of about 2 tablespoons for my 300 gallon hot tub. In any case, I have found that 3 works better. So that's 1 tablespoon per 100 gals. Frequency varies according to usage of course but I usually end up using it about once a week.Not only does it burn off the chloramines (and the resulting odor) but it reactivates the remaining sanitizer in the water so I usually don't have to add any for several days after shocking.

Nice product but what alien entity over engineered the safety lid? I wish an MMA fighter on the person who decided to put that lid lock into production.
