Recently picked up the spark plug repair kit, and the first thing that I would advise to anyone reading this is do not overtighten your spark plugs. They just don’t need that much force to stay in. Just a good snug turn with the ratchet is all it needs. If you keep cranking you end up needing this kit because you’ll likely strip the threads in the socket on the block. And that is a serious issue.Fortunately, there are kits like this one that can assist in repairing strip spark plug threads. So if you have this issue on your vehicle for whatever reason then you’ll want to pick something like this up.It has everything you need to get this problem fixed. It comes with a tea bar, a couple of extensions, some taps for threading, and some thread inserts that will stay inside the block when you’re done. Those are what spark plugs will screw into.I have used these repair kits before and they work well. I had a shop that put one spark plug in so tight. It popped out while being driven. Turns out the threads were stripped because it was tightened so much in there.I used a kit like this, and I never had a problem afterward. There were no misfires, the timing was just fine, and cylinder compression was up to par and measured out to specs.So don’t stress too much. Just pick up this kit and do what you need to get it fixed. Because the alternative is way more expensive than doing this difficult repair.

I got this to hopefully restore some spark plug holes on a ford triton v 10 in my father in law’s motorhome. This kit looked like it would work best for us. Well he passed away before we had the chance to make the repair. I’ve not found a place co to actually test it for that purpose. I did fix a couple holes in a flange bolt hole on an old tank I believe and they worked great there. I feel like this is a quality thread repair set and I would purchase again.

This is a great toolkit to have on hand when you are dealing with stripped-out spark plug threads.It comes with a variety of solidly built tools that help you make the job of fixing the stripped threads with a heli-coil type insert easier.You’ll get a thread chaser to save any remaining threads, a step bit that uses the remaining threads as a guide to help cut the threads for the coil, a seat cleaner and an insertion tool for the coil that is pretty well designed. All tools are long enough to do the repair in situ without having to pull the head!Even the instructions are readable and fairly useful, which seems to be a rarity these days. Unfortunately the metal storage box was all banged up when I received it, but that’s on Amazon. The box itself is solid and will help you keep the kit organized without being overly large.Overall a great toolkit to have on hand when you need it for that last-ditch attempt to save the head without having to pull it!

Spark plug repair kit cutting teeth and thread inserts look true and made well. You have to work slow and careful with the stepping tap or you could ruin the cylinder head. Kit comes with plenty of inserts and made a good repair.

I work on cars and sometimes the spark plugs will pull the threads out of the aluminum heads requiring repair. I have used the old type of thread insert that while it worked sometimes the insert would not stay in place well and does not look very professional.This newer method works so much better and leaves a professional looking repair that will hold up for many plug replacements provided you use a permanent thread locker paste.The inserts seem to be decent quality but are anodized so I don't know if they are carbon steel or what.All in all this is very well priced compared to the name brand and the included tooling works just fine.Hope this helps and thanks..
