I bought this due to the ratings I have seen and was disappointed, I purchased this for koi pond I built and used alot of fittings. The inside valve when not close all the way therefore it would leak and I had to take the pvc fittings off and couldn;t use it. This detailed several fittings going in and out of the check valve. This is not a cheap product Spears are rated the top but I think I got one that quality control should had tested it first before selling. It was easy to install hard to cut it off, When the pump was off you could hear that water was moving which there should be no water going thru check valve. Had to turn off the 3 way valve and shut down the pond and wait to get another check valve

I really like the design of this. The beauty is in its simplicity with a simple hinged flapper that prevents fluid to backflow. Great for very low pressure or drainage where you want no restriction of water flow in the right direction but want it quickly stopped should the flow reverse.

which in my case is keeping the water from my external pond pump (above water level) from flowing back into the pond when I shut it off for maintenance or to clean out the priming pot.
