I have a pinched nerve which has caused severe weakness in my primary hand. Saw this type of unit in a movie and thought it might help me. Well. It has. I now carry two in my purse. One for a pencil and another for a pen. The increased size is the reason it works so well.

I took the pack of six out of the amazon box and laughed myself silly. They are hilariously big, but that suits my purposes just fine. I spent a good five minutes trying to cram a Pilot V5 into the admittedly narrow opening (trying real hard not to make an off color joke because... c'mon...) Since my thumbs are the reason I got these in the first place, I eventually got help, and now I don't think I'll ever separate that pen from its green imprisonment. I don't mind that, though I can't recap it either, so this has become the primary pen. Happily, it can stand on its own, which also inspired giggles, so it's actually quite convenient, if not more than a little unorthodox.Writing with it takes some getting used to, and my already terrible handwriting has taken a turn for the worse. But, out of pain-fueled desperation, I managed to learn how to write legibly with my non-dominant hand, so acclimating to this wide gripper will be a bright green, cushioned cakewalk.

I use these for pens and crochet hooks, and they work great. I had hand surgery, and they help relieve pain while writing and crocheting. I had to wrap tape around the hooks to get them to stay since they are thin er than pens or pencils. Only draw back is that I have a sensitive nose and they are kinda stinky. The foam leaves an unpleasant plasticy chemical smell on your hands. Not a big deal and it washes off, just a mild nuisance.

The size is perfect for my arthritic hands. I have trouble grasping with my dominant hand, so this gadget helps me continue to enjoy writing, coloring, and drawing. When I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I thought my days of enjoying writing were over. This device helps tremendously.

I bought for my 12 year old son, hoping it would help him stop tapping pencils in class. However, these are the size of bike hand grips. He said in no way would he use them. Other than that, if you need a sturdy, big hand grip, they fit regular pencils perfectly.

I am a fully grown adult and these were HUGE for my hands. It covered the entire pencil (I know it showed that in the picture but I apparently didn’t pay attention to that). I ended up returning because it was so uncomfortable on my hands. It made it to where I didn’t have intentions on my fingers from holding the pencil but because it was so large and different from what I was used to, it was very uncomfortable.

With a little wrestling and some tape to increase the diameter of my crochet hooks, these cushions have made it possible for me to keep crocheting a little longer. They have dramatically decreased the hand fatigue and pain I was experiencing so when I sit down for a project I can last longer than a few minutes at a time! So thankful for these! Will be purchasing a couple more packs.
