Great value and you have to throw away less when its time to replace them. I use them on my 87' truck and just bought this for my lawn mower. I wrap them 3/4 of the diameter in thick foam rubber so that they are protected from impact or vibration. Don't want them breaking. Works great and fits three different fuel line sizes so its a bargain considering the crappy plastic filters that your "supposed" to buy for your lawn tractor cost the same or more and you have to throw the whole thing out when its done. I like that the viewing glass never fades with heat like the plastic filters do because it is made of glass! Novel idea. Great value and the free shipping makes them irresistible.

Nice fuel filter. Went from solid metal filter to this to be able to see any trash in my fuel. No leaks and solid construction.

That filter is a joke !! Very poor quality product, especially what seems to look like metal, holes to let the fuel in the glass housing and out are not even cleaned (seems like they just got machined, and not refined, I would expect some metal chips getting into the engine after a while). Let's get to the worst part : as soon as I got the product, i took it apart to make sure the filter was sitting strong, but when I tried to put everything back together, that was just impossible. Threads were messed up due to the poor quality of the metal parts, and i know i unscrewed it properly, I'm not a rookie in DIY. After forcing it a little bit, I manage to reassemble the whole filter, with some metal chips in the filter glass housing (at that point, i wasn't planning on installing it on my truck anyway) but, just for the hell of it, i tried to screw those plastic extremity "barbs", but it messed up the threads too, I laughed at how people could manufacture a product that bad, and say "oh, looks good enough, we can sell it" for 10 F.......G BUCKS especially when it comes to fueling systems !! That thing could easily set your vehicle on fire !!! Wouldn't recommend it, even if it was 20 cents.

UPDATE 10/22: both items I received had the internal element a bit loose (couldn't see movement but I could hear a rattle in each one) - a third is on the way as a spare so we'll see if it shows up loose too.one I installed as-is to see what would happen (yeah maybe not the smartest thing) - the engine vibrations were visibly loosening the nut more and more, with no signs of stopping.while the other I opened the filter and tightened the element. you can't tighten the element too much as it's fragile plastic and starts to twist and deform; and the tightening nut seems to spin pretty freely with little resistance.maybe I'll try yellow teflon tape or find a tight rubber gas-safe washer to hold the nut in place. red loctite is gas-safe but too permanent, and blue loctite is pretty gas-resistant but still worries me.reducing from 4 to 3 stars, this is just silly. I'd also ordered a very similar product from a different brand - it seems much more cheaply made, but its design eliminates the loosening problem altogether (no nut, the element tightens right against the end cap.ORIGINAL REVIEW:prices on the usual plastic/paper filters (mann, beck-arnley) have been going up almost double. sten brand 120-436 is still fairly inexpensive. but in any case the plastic fogs and makes it hard to tell what's going on inside.application here is 1969 volvo 1800, 1 filter before the mechanical fuel pump and 1 after, to dual SU carbs.the 2358 replacement guts seem to be a real bargain (9 bucks for 3 sets, free shipping on amazon) even compared to cheap plastic filters.the lower filter has pretty much nowhere to go, but the upper one has a lot of movement. so that's a serious concern going from plastic to glass, have to figure something out.

I purchased and installed two of these on my 1970 Morris "Mini" Pickup and loved them. They work great and you can see exactly how clean the filters are. I just bought two more for my 1968 Austin Cooper S. On both cars I installed one in between the gas tank and the fuel pump and another right before the carburetor. They come with different adapters that easily screw in for different fuel line sizes. The metal ends unscrew allowing access to the filter inside. There is a rubber gasket between the glass and each metal end. I have not had any problems with leaks at all.

If the center stub that holds it together was longer & had better thread contact it would be 5 stars. After assembly & disassembling a few time it no longer stays together, easy wear & tar. Thread contact is little & some loose, plastic ends are fine for while. It’s glass, o-rings, metal bas ends & center stud, plastic ends(fuel ports/barb/nipples), & the usually over the counter filter.

works as it should -- I followed the advice of other reviewers and used teflon tape around the screw in fittings and no leaks. Now I can see the fuel. Some complained about the bowl being glass and breaking, but I have not heard anyone say it ever broke, only the fear of it breaking. This fuel filter has been around for decades. I had one on a Chevy truck 20 years ago and when I received this on it was exactly the same as I remember it. If you are afraid the glass tube might get bumped or hit and break then do this. Take an old piece of garden hose and cut to size, split it and then clam shell it around the glass bowl side you think is threatened and hold in place with a twist tie or pull tab strip. you will have a slit down the middle that will give you visibility so you can still see the filter.

The big benefit of this serviceable filter is that the amount of impurities are visible at one glance, once it's cleaned it's like having a new filter again at no added cost. This works excellent on old tractors (or any old motor vehicle) where fuel tanks are difficult to keep perfectly clean. The screen is fine enough to keep needle and seat operating trouble free.
