The elbow is made from thin-wall aluminum tubing that's polished to a high luster. The polishing is beautifully done, but it's quite delicate. I knocked off one star because I'd rather have thicker wall tubing.The problem is that the thin wall makes it easily damaged. I ordered one from Amazon and it was put in a box with some air filled bags on one side (nothing on top, bottom, opposite side or the ends). Not surprisingly it arrived damaged. I tried to exchange it (and explained the packaging issues on the return form). The second one was packed identically and it too arrived in damaged condition. I returned it and ordered one from another company that actually put some care into protecting the item in shipment.
