The SQUAREs that plug into the phone are cumbersome at best. This freestanding one was excellent on linked to our phone app. It worked great for a fund raiser we did January 1st. In fact, we purchased a 2nd one so we have 2 going at the same time.

So if you’re just a casual user, you can accept contactless payments with just the Square app on your phone. So this isn’t really needed. That said, setup was incredibly easy and works as advertised.

This is the best $60 I have ever spent, it links straight to my bank and it makes accepting card at my business a breeze, the square app allows you to add items so that way you can just add the items you are charging for instead of having to type out every products price individually, i use to hate using the card reader because the one we had before was ancient, but this square reader is awesome! it’s battery life lasts a very long time i used it all day today quite a bit of transactions and it was still at full charge. It’s also very small and doesn’t have to be hooked up to anything. Really a great card reader i couldn’t recommend it more
