I was surprised to see an entirely different "tool" than the older tool made of metal. This is a little round pliable patch that's sticky on one side and gets pressed against the flea. It smothers the flea, according to the description, and kills it. I pressed the patch on the flea but it didn't stick very well because of the dog's hair but the flea's body did come off on the patch head and all! I happened in a matter of seconds so we were happy. I don't know how this would work on a hairy animal and, hopefully, they'd be still enough for you to hold the patch in place. It's the size of a penny.

We live in an area with many ticks. On our morning walk, our Great Pyrenees collects 10 - 30 ticks. This kit allows me to move quickly in de-ticking her and dropping the little buggers into alcohol. I start with a tick/flea comb (not part of this kit) and use the tweezers to pull the tick out of the comb and into the alcohol. It's much better than picking them out with your hands. The other tools also come in handy, and the case is a nice touch to keep everything together. I keep one kit in the truck, one in the house, and the other in the office.

These tools are easy to use and more effective than any that I have ever tried. I have a set at home and in my car.

Unfortunately I live in an area where ticks of various species are plentiful . SighI keep flea and tick preventative products on my dog and an outdoor cat all year long . Plus the dog is vaccinated for tick borne diseases .It’s November . My area has had several heavy frosts , yet a few weeks ago I woke up to a inflamed sore area on my neck. Sure enough. I had a deer tick attached . It was on the back of my neck and the husband is rather squeamish and was not following my verbal instructions as far as removing the tick. Ughh. Plus he was using a pair of regular eyebrow plucking tweezers ( not ideal ) . The tick was busted and parts left imbedded in my neck .I of course had to go on the antibiotic protocol and screening to prevent a serious tick born disease from taking hold. When I saw this kit with various tick removal tools I knew I needed to have it.This kit is perfect. The tools come in a nice metal storage box .The three tools are well made and can be used for larger dog ticks down to those pesky tiny deer ticks . ( like I was bit by )There are two sets of tweezers with different ends so that removing any size tick will be much easier . There is also a forked tool which would be really good for lifting and removing the larger dog ticks from one’s pet safely and properly .This product can be used on both pets and humans .This set truly is a necessity to keep in one’s pet or human first aid kit if one lives in an area where ticks are common or when one is traveling to an area where there are ticks . This set of tick removal tools will make removing ticks safe and properly done .Very much recommend this product !
