This is so attractive and functional. We recently used it for a dinner party, and when we went to empty the bucket 5 hours later, we were surprised that the ice hadn't even begun to melt. It was as cold as if we'd just taken it out of the freezer.

The box was damaged, but it looks like the product was protected. So that was good. It does look durable and the tongs fit into the lid. It’s a nice design. I would have kept it but… After I opened the lid, I found tiny black specs on the rim. Then there was some kind of dried substance on the inside at the bottom. My first thought was if I clean this, dry it, wipe it down with alcohol, would I still be ok to use this. My mind wasn’t having it. I didn’t bother to try to clean it. I’m returning it. The mystery liquid isn’t for me. It’s 4 stars cuz I’m hoping it was a manufacturer issue or something like that.

Ice buckets can be very expensive or so cheap that they look like it. And given the circumstances where they are being used, they need to be somewhat sturdy and cheap. This particular ice buket is for use outside and on a deck. Possibilities for damage are high. Hence I opted to the cheaper model. At the same time I did not want something that looked like it came out of a garage sale. And I liked having the tongs come with the ice bucket and in a place where it would be difficult to misplace them.

I love the size and the lid with tongs. Unfortunately, one of the handle screws kept loosening up. One day the screw popped off during one of my events. I had to completely remove the handle. This happened just 4 months after I purchased and I only used the ice bucket 4 or 5 times a month to do my wine tasting events. It's a bit harder to use now, but it keeps the ice very cold for 5 to 8 hours.
