These are primarily used on the exterior of the boat on the intake tube. I however also use them inside the livewells by siliconing them over the "outlet or "overflow" on the side of my live well. this allows me to leave the fill pump on without worrying about my culling floats plugging my overflow. These will also prevent the bigger fish from blocking the outflow with their bodies. I had to drop my fill pumps down to 500 gph in order to achieve the same fill as outflow rates to avoid overfilling. But it seams to work perfectly for me by keeping fresh water constantly entering the live wells. Some guys may question the "hot" sumertime surface water all day, but Im in NY and have never had a problem loosing fish and very often get the " must have a good live well" comment at weigh-ins. Side note... take a peak at these on the back of your boats every once in awhile as they plug up with slim over time and reduce the pumps intake. I simply spin it off and clean them up with hot water in the sink.. Good luck and tight lines.. : )
