I make crackers for myself every weekend to not ingest seed oils- they're unavoidable with most crackers.This week, my new dough hook showed up and I put it to work straight away. Right away I noticed a positive difference in the way this hook works vs. the dough hook that came with the mixer. This one kneads much better and the dough doesn't rise up like it did with the stock hook. This was with 4 cups of flour plus the other spices for the dough.No paint on this hook means no chipping like my other hook is doing. Stainless. Cleanup was easy, too.

It's made of a nice stainless steel. The hook is thick and solid and doesn't bend at all. I've put it through the dishwasher a number of times and there is not even a slight indication yet of any kind of wear or corrosion. A very good replacement for Kitchenaid's terrible peeling painted hooks. I have it on my 5.5qt Kitchenaid mixer and it works perfectly.

I make a loaf of bread every Sunday and have been using the dough hook included with my KitchenAid Artisan 5-quart tilt head. I had to try this one after seeing reviews on better dough hooks.This spiral dough hook shortened my mixing time in half and got my bread into the oven quicker, which was a big plus. The first picture is after the first use, and this was a breeze to clean, being polished stainless steel. The second picture is the loaf it ended up mixing today. This hook did seem to make my mixer work harder, which is concerning but adjusting the speed is very easy on these mixers.As mentioned in a previous review, you will need to adjust the height of your mixer attachment, which is lower for this product than all of the standard attachments you get with your original mixer purchase. Please keep that in mind if you need to use any of the standard attachments. You will need to raise the height of those. You can easily find this adjustment information by searching for KitcheAid adjust attachment height in your favorite search engine.
