I rebuilt my HEI distributor the other day and knowing that the pick-up coil is a weak link in this distributor I replaced the old one with this part. The only reason I bought the complete assembly and not just the coil itself is because it requires a special tool to center the pole piece so that the opposing poles on the distributor shaft don't make contact while it is rotating. I was a little disappointed when I found that this piece did not have the pole pieces centered correctly and therefore my distributor shaft would not turn after installation. I was able to eventually get the pole piece centered by hand and everything is good now.
