1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0 - Replaced cam position sensor in distributor with this SMP one. It didn't fix my problem so I know that this sensor is a good one. Left new one installed and kept OEM sensor as a backup.

Installed easy. So far so good. Time will tell on longevity.

Replaced as part of tune up. If you know the Jeep 4.0, you know this and or a failed crank position sensor WILL leave you stranded (ask me how I know) Jeep runs strong still after 6,000 miles.

The part was very reasonably priced through Amazon, this part is a little hard to obtain in Australia & quite costly due to the age of the vehicle & the fact that all the parts are normally imported for Chrysler vehicles from the USA.

I installed the sensor and the 2001 Jeep Wrangler with 2.5 engine shut down two miles down the road. I had it towed to my mechanic and he replaced it with a Mopar part and it runs fine. I should have paid attention to the Jeep forums I read that recommended buying only Mopar for this replacement item.
