I have a truck to tow my fishing boat, a 1989 Ford F-150 w/ the 5.0L V-8. My coolant gauge went out, and after testing the wire, I determined it was the sender unit. (To test to see if you gauge and wire work, unplug the wire, using alligator clips run a lead from the wire to your negative battery terminal. Turn the truck to 'on' (without starting it). Once grounded, you should see the temp gauge go all the way up to hot. That shows the gauge and wire are working). It took all of 10 minutes to replace. I used Teflon tape around the threads. Note, if you don't drain your coolant, you can expect to lose a little bit when you remove and install the new one. But you have to be fast.Overall, it's a simple part and works great. Amazon pricing and shipping were great.

Standard motor products have always been the best quality and fit for me for over 50 years.

My temperature gauge was not functioning properly in my 1990 f350 7.5. This little sensor set behind the distributor to the left. I simply removed the plug that slipped onto the top, and removed the old sensor with a 4-way lug wrench. I believe the proper size is 11/16ths but I could double check if someone needs the information. Because it sits at the top, I lost hardly any coolant, and the new one threaded in perfectly. It functions as intended and I expect it to last. Felt like true quality. Don't hesitate to purchase one.

Machining looks nice, threads were clean but the lead-in on the thread was a bit much, it took some jiggling to get the thread to catch. Could use some thread tape or sealant on it, that would be super handy. It works great, very happy!
