This switch replaced a faulty one on my generator purchased from Tractor Supply. Works well..and as expected…

The electric start on my generator (less than 2 years old and less than 80 hours of run time) was working intermittently, then not working at all. I thought it was the battery, but a new battery did not fix the problem. A friend knowledgeable with electrical stuff helped diagnose that it wasn't the starter, or the solenoid, but it was the START switch that was bad. Access is pretty straightforward ... first, I disconnected the battery, just to be safe. Remove 9 (8mm head) screws that hold on cover (note 2 screws are slightly longer that also secure the inverter) and 6 Phillips head screws that secure control panel. Remove OFF - RUN - START knob which is secured with single Phillips head screw. The control panel does not pull out very far due to number of wires connected to it, but ease it out enough for access to START switch. If the original switch, it will likely have glue or silicone sealant along the two long edges. Remove glue with Xacto knife or similar. Note where the 5 different color wires with spade connectors attach. Remove old switch. Reuse flexible plastic switch cover. Pop in new switch. Reconnect wires. Reattach panels and knob and battery. Another word about the battery ... space inside the 9500 Generator is very tight. The only battery I was able to find with similar electric characteristics and would physically fit is the one made by Thunderbolt and sold by Harbor Freight.

The original switch on my Predator generator no longer worked to start the generator, forcing me to use the pull cord instead, to the detriment of my aging arm, shoulder, and back. This switch was a perfect replacement for the original and works flawlessly.

Excellent fix for the Harbor Freight Predator 9500 generator switch issues. My electric start quite working after 20hrs. Simple plug and play fix

The switch wad pretty easy to install and still works a few weeks later. There was one time it didn't want to start, I'm not sure why. The next time I went to crank it, it worked again and hasn't given me any problems. I start my generator every 2-4 times a day. Predator 9000 generator. I bought an extra switch to have on hand if/when it decides to burn out.

This switch is not momentary in the off position-so when you shut it down you do not have to hold it till the engine dies, much better than the previous switch
