Moles has 12v and 5v input, which means this cable will only output the two voltages. The cable and adapter have decent quality and works fine for my devices. Before buying you should check the voltage ratings for your device. Only buy this if your device only supports the two voltages not 3.3v.If you are still concerned you should check the pinout and check for connectivity or verify voltage before connecting your devices. After all bad units may still exist.

To be clear, you use this to attach an IDE drive to a SATA connection on mother board, most likely because your motherboard either does not have IDE for what ever reason, and you do not want to throw our a perfectly good IDE drive.I was frustrated at first because I did not read the instructions. I plugged this in and booted and PC hung. Finally read the instructions and it tells you to move the drive jumper to MASTER. HOWEVER, I did that and still did not work. In my case for my motherboard, the jumper needed to be set to CS(CableSelect). Once I did that the PC booted. I suspect other motherboards/bios will recact differentlyHOWEVER, windows explorer did not see the drive when boot completed. When I looked in Device Manager the drive was there with an "!". I then opened Disk Manager and it did see the drive but called it "FORIEGN" or something of that sort. I had to right click on the drive and "Import FORIEGN DRIVE" or something like that and all was well.Summary, I know this may seem a little technical to some folks, but if you are in messing around with your motherboard and devices you should have the skills to understand the above, it is sort of windows admin 101 kinda stuff.Hope this helps someone and saves a little time. But the device does do the job and works great.

Dell is currently charging $350 to add a 256GB SSD drive (most likely Liteon) to the x51 model currently selling for $1149. There isn't even an option for adding an SSD to the lower cost x51 models. (I purchased the model one step below this base price but containing the GTX 760 ti graphic card, assuming it's the graphic card that matters most and not so much the CPU).Guess what? You can buy a Samsung Evo 250GB SSD drive on Amazon for $153.99. Pay yourself $200 for doing the following:Read instructions for installing an SSD by an Alienware enthusiast after doing a search for "PYO1LP4SATA upgrade alienware". The upgrade is very easy and does not take too long. What does take long is installing Windows 8 and Alienware Command Center on your new SSD drive.Installing an SSD is much easier than you think -- I open up my computer case once every 3-4 years, so while I may seem knowledgeable relative to the average consumer I am by no means an expert or comfortable with computers. One thing the instructions do not mention are the following: 1) you need a sata cable in addition to this power y cable; 2) if your original HDD is small enough, first see if there is software that comes with your SSD drive that will copy over all data and settings onto the SSD because reinstalling from scratch was very time consuming; 3) if you reinstall everything from scratch, you will need to find copies of Alienware Command Center and a few drivers. Do a search for "Product support for Alienware X51 R2" or whatever your model is to get the relevant page.I am pleased with the results of adding an SSD to my x51 r2. It takes about 10 seconds to load BF4, and restarting the system computer after an update takes just a few seconds. This is super compared to painfully long loading times I experienced with my previous computer running on a HDD. You might think it doesn't matter so much, but I tell you once you experience it it's super -- like going from picking cotton manually to the cotton gin.One more thing that may be relevant to Alienware x51 upgraders: the original 1TB drive that comes with the Alienware x51 r2 is a Western Digital Blue. I replaced mine with a 3TB Western Digital Black -- I wanted a drive that supposedly has a low chance of failure because it's where I want to store and access all my family photos and videos. It's working well so far.

You never know what you're getting when you buy inexpensive cables with a molex power connector on one end. Some of the products are robust and feature good quality connectors and wires, and some are a joke and you're lucky if you get 1-2 insertions out of them before the connector starts to come apart. This is a good quality product. It's not cheap, low-gauge wire with stiff, laughable insulation like many of the products. The wire is of reasonable gauge and is nicely spry and flexible. The connector holds together, the male pins aren't all over the place at weird angles or flopping about to interfere with insertion, and the connection it makes is good.Happy with this purchase and would buy again if needed.

Having read several reviews on Amazon for Molex to SATA power splitter from various sellers I was reluctant to order from the sellers with the absolute lowest price and purchased three of these for my DVD duplicator build instead. When the package arrived, I noticed that the packaging stated that StarTech.com was an ISO 9001-200 company and the support address was right on the bag. A good sign. I opened the individual packaging and noted that the pins in the Molex LP4 connector were firmly in place and there was very little play no matter how much I wiggled the wires. Reviews for cheaper products noted concerns for the pins coming loose and shorting the connectors. Not these! Rigging the 3 splitters in my full size case was a snap. Positive feedback and a firm connection was achieved on the first attempts without wiggling the socket to make the pins line up. I'm glad I spent the extra $1 to get these superior quality splitters. Cheap piece of mind that the house will not burn down or my hardware short out.

This worked great for a dusty old computer to see what was on a few 16 year old IDE drives I had taken out from a different computer back then. The old computer just had SATA power and I didn't have any spare 4 pin MOLEX power cables to try on the drives. Tried one of these adapters and it worked great powering up the old IDE drives. Forgot how some of those sounded like a jet engine.
