Rebuilding the starter is easier than taking it off the machine. I and many of my friends have the $50 knock off starters and I'm the only one thats still working. I don't know exactly why, but I decided to rebuild the OEM and that way I know I will have a good unit. You just can't submerge the quads without having serious problems down the road with stators, recoils, starters, bendix, and anything else that is in the recoil housing. You pretty much have to to tear down of the stator each time you submerge the polaris quads or have any signs of water or dirt from the drain plug. I don't have much time on the new rebuild but, I can't see any difference in the OEM bearings,brushes, brass bushing to this rebuild kit. For the price you can't go wrong. Unfortunately I have no way of searching part numbers in this kit to see if there are any top of the line parts that can be used, such as NTN or Tiemken bearings and seal. Will buy again, its a no brainer. Will update immediately IF I have problems in the future, to let you know if its because of these parts not being top quality.

I have a 1997 Kawasaki Ninja 500R. The starter motor needed new brushes. I bought this kit and the brush plate fits nicely inside of the Mitsuba SM-13. The larger seals and bushing also fit. I did not attempt to replace the bearing so I cannot say whether or not it will work for the SM-13. I used the smallest o-rings to create a better seal on the positive terminal.

The kit is nice but isn't the kit I needed. The seller refunded my money and were very helpful. It was a complete kit and was good quality just wish it was the right one.

The kit came with everything needed to rebuild the starter. The dealer wanted $350 for a new starter and $80 for the kit. For under $17 I rebuilt this starter for an elderly friend with health issues who was short on cash and needed his ranger to feed his animals and get around his large property.

Got this installed an June 20th. Worked great till today. No hard starting problems, so never over cranked for more than 3 seconds. Not happy about having to do this again. Gonna try another company.

fast shipping, easy fix instead of replacing whole starter which save money, and was back to using wheeler again, and having fun
