Suitable for both disc and drum brakes, this durable steel measurement tool is color coded to give a quick reference point on the status of your brake pads. The long measuring blade tips can fit into spaces most digital micrometers and calipers cannot. Each blade has its size stamped into the metal in metric as well as fractional and decimal SAE scale so you can tell at a glance the amount of pad you have left. The yellow blade tip measures 4/32-inch (3.18mm) and the red blade tip measures 2/32-inch (1.59mm).

I am so glad that I found this product! In most cases I always wonder if my break pads are still good or not and since they don't have an indicator if there bad, this tool is a must buy for any DIYer or Mechanic. Very easy to use and the embroidered numbers are fairly easy to read. Also a plus is that this tool is metal instead of plastic, it feel very sturdy and high quality. Overall a must buy!

Gauge set is well made. Different colors are a nice touch. Easy visual warning of upcoming problems. Just would have been nice if the numbers would have included 16's along with mm and decimals. Would have saved me the time of having to convert the numbers or marking the blades. Converting is really no big deal. If there is a set with 16's, I missed it. A good tool to have in your toolbox even though I have others I use out of habit. I would recommend this product.

I purchased this tool to measure brake pads at work to let customers know how thick their brake pads as we serviced their vehicle. It works great and it is sturdy.

The 20 gauge sheet metal gives it a nice solid premium weight to it.The blades are firmly riveted together with a hex bolt. It looks like you can use a M5 allen wrench to adjust the tightness and how easy the blades slides between each other. Out of the box, I find it tight enough to separate one of the blades while prevent the others from moving freely.The markings are legible. It could be sharper or in a higher contrast color but with this type of tool, the red, yellow and green pretty much tells you what you need to know. After a few measurements, you'll probably have the sizes memorized anyways.The paint coating seems to be somewhat scratch resistant. However, with mine, the tip of the blades had color transferred to them from the blades before it. So, I'm not sure how durable the coating is.All in all, I think this is a great tool to visually inspect your brake pad wear quickly.

I’m like to work on my cars myself and this has been such a handy tool for me when I rotate my tires. I get this out and makes judging my brake life a breeze and has held up very well over time. Pain and hinge are still going strong for me. Also easy to fit in my toolbox, doesn’t take up very much space at all.

Working at a shop doing brake inspections multiple times a day. Simple tool but cant ask for more. Durable, clear to show customer via colour coding, fits into most aluminum wheels. Might be better if it was aluminium as it's too heavy to have in the pocket for the day, but I fell like aluminium would not hold up as well to bending and snapping off.

As an Apprentice Technician doing a lot of services including brake inspections this is a absolute must have for getting the inspection done right with precision. These are manufactured with 20-gauge steel blades so they won't bend or break like plastic ones. These have colour powder-coated blades help to quickly determine the brake pad lining thickness. Each blade has both metric and SAE measurements stamped into the metal! A must have for the tech or D.I.Y mechanic. You can’t go wrong with the price! Cheaper than the tool truck brands and the exact same quality! 10/10
