I played through college-level music playing various wind instruments, and I know the difference between a Yamaha/Selmer and a cheap Chinese knock-off, so I was very skeptical about getting any kind of instrument for my son from an everything store like Amazon. But we weren't sure how committed he'd be, and better to only be out a few hundred than a few thousand. But he stuck with it, and he got better, and he made this thing sound great. He grew bigger, so he eventually needed a full-size viola, and we replaced this one with one that did cost several thousand. And while this one didn't sound quite as good as his new one, his new one wouldn't sound anywhere near as good as it does without the expertise he developed during his years playing this Stentor.I can't vouch for the brand. As far as I know, it's nothing special, just some kind of mass-produced Chinese-made stringed instrument. But it gets the job done.

I am so excited and pleased with this Stentor viola. I had to replace the A string because it had a small bad spot in it, but that was easily done. This instrument plays like a dream. I will certainly enjoy it.
