The quality of this pen is terrible, it lit up one time and then would not light again. I would not rely on this product for a filter method at all. It also did not hold a charge.

I went through 2 of these. Neither unit would cycle more than 6-8 times before needing recharging. No where near the 20 cycles advertised. In both cases I got less cycles after a second and third overnight charging. Not something I'm going to rely on in the back country. I went with the (heavier) Traveler model w the CR123 batteries as a replacement.

It worked great for 5 months then the charge started getting worse and now it doesn’t even work anymore. No UV light. Red light blinking and green light blinking. Nothing. For 100 dollars this should be working for years not 5 months! Very displeased.

Took this on a Montana hunting trip, worked reasonably well. Then I trusted it on a backcountry Appalachian hunting trip and it failed. I was six + miles in and it was hot and suddenly I had no way to get water because it had lost its (full) charge. So I attached it to my portable charger and it wouldn’t charge. I would not trust this thing for water acquisition. Get a filter like a sawyer.

The product runs out of battery very quickly, its confusing if the product sterilized the water as there are so many variations of green and red combos. Most steripens just have green or red which I find easier. I understand wanting to let the consumer know that battery levels are running low but in the backcountry seeing red is just stressful.

I bought this purifier and the first time I used it it didn't work. According to the user manual, the alarm shows that the device is damaged. For me it had been. For me this has been a big problem because I don't live in the USA and I bought this item for an upcoming trip to Nepal. Receiving a damaged item is simply unacceptable. Furthermore, there was no way to receive a new product before my trip, without returning the damaged one.

Preso per la mia attività escursionistica. In accoppiata con un filtro meccanico (nel mio caso Sawyer Micro) consente la totale e sicura eliminazione di batteri, protozoi, larve di tenia, alghe e virus. Ciò consente di poter fare rifornimento d'acqua anche da una pozzanghera fangosa o da un fontanile dove il bestiame si abbevera, e persino da un laghetto con escrementi di bestiame. Non è in grado di eliminare l'inquinamento chimico o da metalli pesanti ma non è un problema che si riscontra in escursione (se si evita di abbeverarsi da sorgenti sulfuree). Il peso è molto ridotto e l'autonomia, di una ventina di litri con una carica, consente di portarlo dietro anche in escursioni di molti giorni. Porto comunque sempre delle pastiglie di cloro nel caso mi ritrovassi con l'apparecchio danneggiato o le batterie scariche. Attenzione che il "vetro" in quarzo è delicato e l'oggetto va trattato con garbo.

Pour le bushcraft et les survivalistes, probablement le plus efficace des systèmes de purification d'eau, car en quelques minutes, il agit sur toutes les bactéries, virus et parasites pathogènes pour l'homme. Mieux que tous les filtres qui pour la très grande majorité, n'agissent pas sur les virus ; ou le Micropur forte (efficace sur les mêmes pathogènes) mais dont l'utilisation quotidienne peut-être dangereuse pour notre flore bactérienne intestinale et peut créer des troubles digestifs à terme. Mieux que l'ébullition qui détruit une partie des minéraux et oligo-éléments de l'eau. C'est exactement le même principe que le système SODIS qui utilise le soleil, mais en infiniment plus rapide.

Acheté et utilisé pour un voyage de 3 semaines au Pérou où l’eau n’est pas potable. Plutôt que d’acheter d’innombrables bouteilles d’eau en plastique, je remplissais et purifiais 2-4 bouteilles avec l’eau du robinet, ou bien j’utilisais une seule bouteille pour remplir la vessie d’eau de mon sac à dos. Je n’ai eu aucun problème de santé en purifiant ainsi moi-même mon eau.P.S. Nécessite une bouteille à large goulot pour y plonger l’appareil.

Uit de verpakking, gaf het led lichtje een foutcode: lamp defect.Dit moet dus een apparaat zijn die je leven moet redden, in een tijd van nood, en al kapot in de verpakking zit.Kan je na gaan als het er ruig aan toe gaat.Ik was al een beetje terughoudend om dit product te kopen, maar de lamp zou 8000x mee gaan. Niet dus!
