Very easy to use and resolved issue with sharp fret end that would catch string. File shape and size perfect for fixing sharp frets without causing any damage (can also tape off areas to further protect guitar). Had recently got frets dressed at a shop but one fret was still sharp. This file allowed me to resolve on my own and not have to take guitar into the shop again.

Bought a cheap @$$ Chinese guitar and it had had the expected frets needing help. About a 30 minute job with this baby and didn't damage the fretboard. Guitar now feels and plays like one costing 3 times as much. Very worthy tool.

StewMac stuff is typically very high quality. Worth the price.

This files makes it easy to get those fret ends smooth! StewMac makes the best tools for working on your Git fiddle ! I've used their Fret file to do a number of necks and when I couldn't find mine recently I quickly ordered another one! There are a number of videos from StewMac ,Youtube etc that will show you how to tame those toothy fret ends..

It looks big and substantial in the pictures. Probably worth $20. But in real life you need good vision to see it. It would be easy to throw it away by accident because it's so small and light weight. Luckily it has some red plastic on it. It's only 6 5/16" long x 1/8" x 1/16". It weighs only 6 grams. (30 grams is 1 oz.). Disappointing. Not what I was expecting. Hopefully the file is made of harder metal than the frets and will not wear out. That being said, it worked as intended. It did a good job when used gently with caution, even without protecting the fret boards. Hence 5 stars. It's fine. Just doesn't feel like it's worth much more than my old $2 ignition point file that I ground down on one edge to file frets without scratching fret boards. Both tools do the same job except one costs 10x more.

When this came in I was a little taken aback by how small it it (the size of a small crochet needle). Once I started to use it on the guitar I bought it for I saw the genius of the tool. It works great, it took care of a highly neglected guitar that was left in a garage in Arizona. The tool took care of that vicious fret sprout (even the tang was poking out). So I was able to use this for the first time and get the neck feeling great! The guitar is beat up (I love the Urban Decay vibe of it) but doing this for the first time was not only successful, but my amateur work actually lends itself to the overall vibe. Definitely can recommend this, it's Stew Mac after all, it's what the Pros use!😉ðŸ‘✨
