I have seen much less costly frets, but the quality of these is excellent, I've had very good experience with Stewmac so didn't think twice about paying more for their frets. For one, you getting 18% nickel-silver from a reliable source. Secondly, the ends are perfectly finished. Naturally you will be cutting and shaping one end regardless, but saves a lot of work. Lastly, the pre-radius is a life saver, I have no way to radius my wire. Each fret was perfectly formed. This is my first ever re-fret on my own. The quality of this product definitely made it easier. Since this photo was taken, I hammered in the rest, threw on the old strings and winced as I expected something to be awfully wrong. Nope. No fret leveling, nothing. Tapped them in with a little super glue and ready to play, couldn't believe it. I now have to shape the cut ends, and before installing I did use an xacto to clean out the existing grooves, but that's all I did. One tip, make sure you get the correct radius for your fretbaord! Stewmac offers every radius, way to go! I got medium/medium, these are small vintage style frets. I put them on the picture LP style 70's japan copy which I like but original wide/low frets were very worn and didn't feel right. I wanted a vintage feel. The medium are for the more experienced player that knows what that feels like and wants that. You get more contact with the fingerboard with your fingertips, but intonation, sustain and clarity are superior to jumbo frets.

These are great. Perfectly made to exact specs. I'm always amazed at the quality of StewMac products when restoring an old guitar. Having these pre-cut is nice. I don't have a large workshop and only do guitar stuff once in a while, so I don't have room for the tools to do my own radius and cutting from a spool. Worth it.

These arrived in great shape in an oversized box, I guess to prevent bending and dings in shipping. Good move on the part of the shipper. I only needed 22 frets, but this set came with 24, which was nice because I made a mistake of a couple of them so it was nice to have the couple of extra frets as a backup.
