TLR1-HL-X can be sold in two configurations; with SL-B9 batteries OR with CR123A batteries. The SL-B9 battery has a USB-C port to recharge the battery while the CR123A is a one time use. I would heavily opt towards the SL-B9 batteries as you will be able to use them time and time again with recharging.I swapped out my TLR1-HL for the latest, TLR1-HL-X. I loved the brightness of the TLR1-HL, but was not a big fan of the operation. If you were a right hand shooter, you had to use the support hand to keep the light engaged while shooting(in temp mode). Other clunky ways of using the TLR1-HL included flipping up the switch with the support hand thumb (not easy) or tilting the handgun into your support hand to engage to always on. In running multiple low light shooting drills with the TLR1-HL, this was not optimal. Where the TLR1-HL lags, the TLR-1 HL-X makes up. With super simple support hand thumb (right handed shooter) the TLR-1 HL-X light is engaged and stays on. This allows for quick maneuverability of turning on the TLR-1 HL-X light and actually using your support hand for a full grip. This is a massive upgrade over the TLR1-HL which shooters would use the support thumb to keep the light on, but suffer proper grip with the support hand. The light of the TLR1-HL-X is noticeably brighter then the TLR1-HL. I used rechargeable CR123A batteries in the TLR1-HL and with the same rechargeable CR123A batteries found the TLR1-HL-X eats up the life of the rechargeable CR123A faster then the TLR1-HL. It is a small price to pay and considering you can frond load the batteries without taking the light system off.Holster FitOnce the TLR1-HL-X was installed, it would not fit in the same holster made for a TLR1-HL. My sidearm would stop a bit short of fitting all the way into the holster. However I have an adjustable holster which allows for small adjustments in width. I was able to change the spacers in the holster and once I did, the TLR1-HL-X fit like a glove. If you do not have an adjustable holster, you will probably will have a challenge in using it with the TLR1-HL-X that is designed to fit the TLR1-HL.

Thisbis probably my favorite Streamlight purchase thus far! I love the fact that the batteries are rechargeable, and that they can be removed and re-inserted without taking the light off of the rail! The only negative thing that I'll say is that this light is NOT a perfect fit into holster that accommodate the TLR-1 HL. It'll fit in only one of my holsters, but its a favorite holster. It will not fit into my NERD or Tenicor holster. Other than this, it's an awesome light!!

This is an excellent light. Beam, brightness, battery are all good. This is the new version of a light stream light had out for years and is a solid upgrade….minus one (fairly major) flaw if you EDC.There are enough differences where a carry holster has to be redesigned. I’ve contacted a few manufacturers who build quality holsters for the last generation and out of them, none of them have an ETA for when their company will be producing one for this. That being said, I’m sure a heatgun and some finesse could make one work.

This is a great light, the SL-B9 version actually gives 1,500 lumens while the CR123A gives 1,000. The 3 stars is for the actual inability of receiving the SL-B9 despite being the one purchased! After getting the wrong one and noting what was wrong, the replacement is once again the CR123A! Returning and done with it here, too frustrating

The products are time proven and work reliably, this is a fact. But this amazon store? Is a nightmare and breeding ground for organization corruption of some sort. I've purchased a brand new TLR-1 HL in the past and received a used unit-- so why would I pay the brand new price for something used? Returned it and got what I ordered later. This time? I order the TLR-1 HL X with rechargeable batteries and instead get the version without the rechargeable batteries so why did I pay extra for? It's not worth the hassle to do an entire exchange process because I have work to do so I just ordered next-day rechargeable batteries of which I feel lucky I even got the right version of.Do better streamlight. Your products are good but your store personnel are holding you back big time to the point I'm about to take off to another brand.

Hey, great light. Love it. But I ordered the light that was supposed to come with the SL-B9's and NOT the CR123's. For whatever reason, the description and item selection are inverse to one another. Select the one that has the CR123's, it'll say they're sold seperatley and you'll actually get the SL-B9's in the box. If you select the SL-B9's like I did, the description will say they are sold seperatly and you'll recieve some CR123's instead, like me. I've tried to reach out to Amazon to see if they're able to correct this, but so far no luck. Not sure if this is on Streamlight if they manage this product page/their dealer Amazon account. At time of purchase, this item was sold "direct" through Amazon.

The Streamlight TLR-1 is an excellent super high quality light. It’s expensive but the quality and capability is worth the cost if you can afford it. A seldomly used home defense handgun needs to function when you need it. Don’t trust the budget lights for this purpose. Hope this helps. Be safe!
