The optimum distance recommended for stringing poles is 12 ft-15 ft for lightweight lights and 6.5 ft-10 ft for heavyweight lights.

These are great. Originally ordered some to hang solar party lights in my yard. Just recently ordered another pair to hold outdoor screen to use with my projector. Perfect as they are easy to put up and take down.

But alas they bend to much under the weight of the lights. So you won't have straight poles but rather slightly bent poles that esthetically doesn't look as good. But they are getting the job done. I now have lights over my grilling station. So that's a plus. Make them sturdier and it's a 5 all day!

They aren't very sturdy I had to buy support to put in them as they leaned like they were going to snap, just holding lights the anchors at the bottom snapped I had to use one to stabilize the other. I guess it's quality I should expect from Amazon at this point. I wish it was better but I'm glad I got them at a discount to say the least.

I got these to go around my back patio to hold up lights and they have worked great. You can hang string lights from them and also citronella candles easily.
