Actually made of metal and seems of good quality and durable. It was easy to install and works like a charm! Time will tell but I really think it was well worth the extra couple of bucks to get a metal one instead of a plastic one. It was on my wife's side of the sofa and she was so happy and gave me a smile and a wink when she tried it out so I'm sure it was a great buy!

This came with the clip to lock the cable in. It was easy to install. I used the screws that came.out of the broken one I replaced. It is metal so it won't break like those plastic ones. I was quite excited to find a metal one. My recliner is a no name brand and it fit in the hole with a little extra wiggle room but did not leave big gaps. You can't tell it is an aftermarket replacement. It worked perfect with the first pull.

The best thing about the handle is that it's metal and not plastic like the one that originally came on my La-Z-boy sofa. I tried finding one that was exactly like what I had. This was the closest I could find and decided to give it a try to see if I could make it work. First, on my old handle the cable attached in a different location. Second, the cable end was smaller than the hole in the new handle. The outer cable jacket looked the same and it did fit in the new location. I made a sleeve out of an electrical crimp connector for the cable end that fit nicely in the new handle. The cable was just long enough to reach the top of the handle when it was installed in the sofa. I could have flipped it over 180 degrees, but you would have then been pushing down instead of pulling up on the handle to operate the recliner. It is working where it is, so I'm not going to worry about it. The attached pictures show what I am talking about a little better. The first shows both new and old handles together. The next three show the old handle cable mounting points and how the old handle style looks on the opposite side of the sofa. The next two pictures show the cable installed in the new handle and the sleeve I made before I crimped it on the end of the cable. The last two pictures show the new handle installed. It operates very smoothly, better than the original.

"End User" nailed it on their review, I had the exact same problem on my (2014?) lazy boy recliner couch. In short, the handle works but I had to install it upside down, meaning instead of pulling up I'm not pushing downward on the lever part with my thumb. Why? As the photo shows, and as end user shared In their review - the cable comes out the top of this aftermarket handle (compared to the other photo which shows the original being flat on top) feeding the cable up toward the wood of the inside of the couch. You'd think from the picture that this is working, but the handle can't be inserted all the way into couch bc the cable hits the top, thus you have to rotate it 180 degrees so the cable exits from the bottom allowing room for handle to be installed into couch correctly. I could have figured something out like "end user" to crimp and make it work.. but it's 10.30pm and whatever, I'll open it reverse and be done with it.I wish it would be the same as the original, but at the end of the day, there's bigger things to waste time on. The operation (although backwards) is smooth and works fine so far. Very easy 2 screws (don't over tighten and strip the wood when you put them back in!).Product doesn't include instructions, the weird metal clip is for securing the cable in place, I had to use pliers to get it on all the way.Entire job took 3 minutes, and I now have an upside down, but working handle. 5 stars for better quality than original -3 stars for it not being the same as OEM and needing to be upsidedown +1 for price and ease +1 for it functioning without additional work. Leaves me at 4 stars overall.

I was relieved to find out that replacements were available. This even seems better than the original, being metal instead of plastic. Easy to install. In about ten minutes my loveseat was fixed!

The recliner release on one side of my daughter's La-Z-Boy sofa broke when I pulled the little handle up. I searched for replacement parts and found a number of inexpensive parts on Amazon. I was excited to find this one because it is the right size AND it is made of metal. The original part was plastic and you could clearly see that the plastic was fatigued. It wasn't too hard to replace. My husband did it fairly easily. This part is just the mechanism that goes on the side of the sofa- I was hoping not to have to mess with the cable inside the sofa because nothing was wrong with it. It turns out that we did still have to detach the cable inside to release the tension to make it possible to attach the cable to the new part. My husband found it easy to install and said the quality of the part was better than the original part. I will note that if you have a La-Z-Boy sofa or chair and you need to replace the cable inside (which we did not), you need to find a cable that has a little loop on the end, not one that has a metal z-shaped piece on the end.

Th plastic ones that came with the sofa had broken. Decided to get something that would last more than a couple of months. They fit perfect and are well made. Waited a few weeks to get them but it was worth the wait.

I've replaced the handles on my recliner twice already, this all metal handle looks like it will outlast the recliner, it's very sturdy and the release action is smooth.
