I compared the diameter of these foam balls to a set I purchased from Joann Fabrics. The circumference is 9.25" thus making the diameter 2.94" and are thus under the advertised 3 inches on the listing. I am using these to make ornaments, not a fan of how soft this foam is either. Will not purchase these again. I'll buy at the major retailer.

we used these for a science project that my kids had to make and label a cell.They are a good quality and held up to being sliced with a bread knife for our project.
