Product Description

Butterfly Cage by SunGrow is an ideal terrarium for your potted host plants as you grow your butterflies.

Their ideal home just pops open in a second and measures 16” x 16” x 24” which gives plenty of space for caring and feeding your colorful winged insect pet. Involve your children in every stage of metamorphosis as this is also a good learning experience for them. Let them watch how a caterpillar matures, turn into a chrysalis and finally transforms into a beautiful butterfly.

Instructions:

1. Be careful when opening the butterfly tent - Once you slip off the elastic strap around the circle, the cube cage can pop open unexpectedly so make sure you have plenty of space and no tearable or breakable objects nearby.

2. After opening the net cage, the sides will be creased from folding. Get the creases out quickly by blow drying them with a hair dryer for about 5-minutes or place it under the warm sun to relax wrinkles.

3. Always close the cage door so the zippers meet at the TOP CENTER. If a caterpillar is somewhere on the zipper, this will allow you to zip down the other side to open.

4. Wash the mesh cage by keeping it soaked in a soapy mixture for about 20-minutes.

5. Rinse your butterfly garden with water and then let it sun dry - hang it on a clothesline or put a rock on the floor so it won't blow away.

6. When folding the cage for storage, place your hands on opposite upper corners of the cage and press one corner in to fold the cage flat.

7. Store the cage flat in a closet, under the bed, behind a couch, etc..

It's big enough to easily accommodate a vase and plenty of leaves, as well as two jars with chrysalises. It's easy to open, and the bottom layer is clear plastic, which makes it easy to clean. The cage came with well-written instructions on how to breed one's butterflies. For the price it's an excellent cage and better than most others I had seen on Amazon.

Easy to rinse out with the hose after all the Monarchs hatched. Keeps them safe and the chrysalis can attach securely. Have to watch them because they love the zipper area and I have had to move a few who insist that is the best place to make their cocoon. The clear side is good when the wind is cool. You do need to anchor it down outside as they are lightweight. Easy to move from outside to inside. Love this product. Fun for the grandkids who watched this amazing transformation and then the release.

I had 2 butterfly habitats pf another brand and needed another. I bought this because it was cheaper. Unfortunately it sits lopsided, and the zipper door is smaller. Yes, it is useable, but others are better.

Bought this for my planter that I grow parsley and dill in for swallowtails. Got egg bombed by a few swallowtails, and there are 20+ caterpillars growing/eating. Found a wasp trying to get to the caterpillars and this is the perfect size to keep them safe.

Hatching late monarchs....easy to clean, easy to open without disturbing the chrysalides...does the trick.Just an idea for all you Monarch fans.,.I called my local nursery and asked if they could house the late season Monarchs I raised from caterpillars to butterflies as its freezing here. They said yes! So now these little beauties, (who were doomed) now have a place to rest, feed and breed over the winter. They will migrate in the spring.

I had been debating on buying it and when I finally did I realized it looks exactly like my laundry basket. It has a clear plastic side so you can see it but the net is just as clear as that side. Had I known I would have just bought another laundry basket for half the price

We have milkweed plants & we also buy new milkweed every so often. Keeping some in this enclosure helps to make sure the birds donâ€™t eat our hungry little caterpillars. Also keeps wasps from eating the eggs! We love releasing our butterflies when they come out of their chrysalis.
