Bought this capacitor not expecting much - cause its so cheap. Did not take long to get it, thanks Amazon! Bought a cheapo Generator (All Power America APG3012 3,250 Watt 6.5 HP OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered Portable Generator - search for it on Amazon ) - and found that it could not start my RV/AC without some hysterics - literally the generator started to walk across the driveway trying to rev up enough to start the compressor on the A/C. IT would eventually kick in, but I wanted a better solution. Took about 15 minutes to put this capacitor on my 2002 Dometic 13.5K BTU A/C. Which did have a starting capacitor - bout 1/2 the size of this thing. I just wired it in parallel as there were lugs to do so on the original starting capacitor. And sure enough! The A/C compressor started, the Generator surged just a bit under the strain, then returned to normal speed - I base this on how it sounds - dont have a A/C volt meter. But worked very very well. I've run this combo for several hours to test the capacitor and the generator - no real issues other than if i run the A/C i can’t run really any other high amp device such as a microwave, but hey I didn't want to lug around a really heavy generator for camping and having some A/C while in the desert is fantastic. I should mention, that the Generator can start the A/C when it’s first turned on, but when the system pressurizes - that’s when the generator could not re-start the compressor easily. Now if there is at least 45 second between compressor cycles, this capacitor makes the next start of the compressor pretty painless without much struggle by the generator. I was told by someone that works on A/Cs that when the system is pressurized the compressor takes more power to start. For what its worth.

This Hard Start Capacitor is just what older A/C Condensers need. It helps them spin up quicker and definitely extends the life of the compressor. For the price of the kit, as compared to the overwhelming price of a new HVAC unit, it is well worth the small price for the peace of mind of being able to keep your condenser unit running at it's peak performance for as long as possible. Great product and very affordable price. I'm satisfied.

I recently bought a motorhome with a 2500 watt generator. The previous owner did not have AC on it so it would fit in his garage (nine foot door). When rv dealer quoted me $1400 to install a new name AC, I elected to buy a 'basic' brand name Dometic 13,500 btu AC for $650. It was helpful that the RV was already wired and cut for the unit but the issue was whether the small gen would even run it. Many others had said it was really 'iffy' without installing a hard start kit. So I ordered and added this kit before I even put the new AC on the roof.Payoff - as soon as I hooked up the wiring, I fired up the gen let it run a few minutes and turned on the AC. Gen took it with only a typical added-load groan lasting a second or so.- Note: Lots of people complain that this 'start function' kit should be included from the factory. I believe the reason it is not is due to the likelihood that the relay in the kit will fail before anything else in the unit. I understand the electrical aspects and I'm pretty sure these will fail at n hours and long before anything else does.- Stars. Gave only 4 because it IS likely to fail at some point and because the better version - SPP6 E - is not designed to work reliably with 120 volt systems.

This worked great. I have a champion 3400 generator inverter and it would not start my 13500 btu dometic brisk air 2. At first I thought it was my generator not putting out enough watts but I tested some other things and was able to put out up to 3200 running watts. Turns out my ac pulls up to 8000 watts on start up for that split second and was overloading my generator. Very frustrating because it's the whole reason I bought the 3400. I did alot of research and read about capacitors and how they work. From what I understand these newer air conditioners come with very small hard start capacitors. I'm sure they do it to try and save on costs. So I figured for 13 bucks it's worth a try. Installation is very easy you just piggy back it to your stock hard start capacitor it plugs right in. The hardest thing for me was trying to figure out where to mount it. Anyways my generator now barely throttles up when I start my ac. I can even start my ac on econ mode on my generator. I also tried my buddies honda 2000 and it started right up. You wouldn't be able to run much more but it did start it and ran my ac just fine. So do your research because this saved me tons of money I was pretty close to buying another generator to pair up with my original. Make sure you look at your compressor on your ac. The lra on mine was like 67 that's your starting amps. 67 amps times 120 volts equals 8040 watts. I don't know for sure how much the spp6 cut my starting watts down but it has to be under 2000 watts. I highly recommend.

Symptom: There was no cool air coming in even if the thermostat was shown cool on.Check: I went outside and opened the cap of the Central Air Conditioner. I pushed the contactor/starter button and heard sounds like won... only once, the fan and compressor didn't start. I re-entered power, and it repeated the same thing.Problem Guess: The contactor/starter or capacitor is broken.solution: I bought the contactor and SPP6 to replace them from Amazon. The SPP6 arrived quickly. I put it onto the Central Air Conditioner capacitor parallel, one connected to the common, and another one to compressor following the instruction. Then I started everything to test. Results: It has been working well, till now 2 weeks, hopefully longer.Lucky!

Worked great in a pinch. Managed to keep my unit running when the capacitor died and I waited for a new one. Totally worth keeping these on hand.

Installed this to my 1994 motorhome a/c dometic system.Definitely boost my dometic a/c compressor starting operation. the only suggestion I have is to make the C label abit bigger so it's easier to see.
