Used with a built in storage unit I built in the playroom. See pic. The cover is 1" plywood and about 48x32 or something in that area. It's pretty darn heavy but not ridiculous. I needed it to (a) be easy to open since my kids keep stuff in there and (b) be safe to close since my kids keep stuff in there. This checks both boxes. I will say that the close is not as soft as a "soft close" drawer or anything like that but it is certainly soft enough not to do any harm to the kids if they are moderately careful. I used the 45lbs supports. It's probably a little more than I needed but not so much that closing the lid is unduly hard. My 9 year old can do it with no problem. I used both supports on the lid - I recommend you do the same - the balanced opening and closing is the best bet. Installation was easy but placement was a little tricky. I put one of them in one spot and it turned out I was a little too far forward with the bottom clip and unable to close the lid all the way as a result. I just moved it back about 2 inches and it was fine. For this kind of box-lid application it appears to me that you want to install them very close to vertical. That is, open the lid to perpendicular and install them straight up and down. If you can't get them perfectly straight up and down you'll still have some play. The object is to get them to fully extend when open and fully retract when closed. I'm sure there is a calculation for it but I really stunk at trigonometry and could not figure it out. I thought only mistake was a pretty good guess. You'll do fine. These things are quiet and strong. I'm very pleased. DON"T FORGET TO ORDER THE MOUNTING HARDWARE!!

Replaced original ones that came on camper shell and these seem to be much better and stronger.

I have a 2000 ford f250 with canopy. I have been looking for strut shocks for a while. I went to many local autoparts stores and they would not sell me any struts for my canopy. I found these on this site and read all the reviews. I bought them and they fit perfectly and work great. I made sure all measurements on the chart we the same. These were better then half the price of the original struts off my canopy and work awesome. Advice to anyone who buys these, make sure u work the struts by pushing them on the floor or table first. they are stiff when u receive them and then they won't tear off the small ball attachments on the canopy.

Easy to install, quick shipping and not a bad price. Just wasn’t the right size or study enough for what I needed it for.

2020 Ford F150 6’6” ordered a new Leer 100XL and it came with the wrong struts on the window C16-33296 40# and keep hitting my head. 🥲Checked my part numbers verses my brothers and his opens 3” higher. My strut # (C16-33296) 40# My brothers strut # (C16-33297) 45#. We determined from Suspa website that the C16-04270 had the same dimensions and poundage as my brothers F150 topper.I emailed Suspa: Hello I was wondering what the difference is between these two?
C16-04270 vs C16-33297?“There is no difference. TAG/Leer wanted their own unique part number so they have C16-33297.”So I ordered these and they were shipped quickly and received them today and installed them. Best $26.83 I spent! Great seller, fast shipping!

I don't generally write reviews but thought it appropriate in this case. I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma crew cab with a SnugTop (of same year I believe) and these fit PERFECTLY. Took me a whopping 5 minutes to install and they seem very sturdy and strong......no more hatch crashing on my head in cold weather. Obviously because they are so new I don't know how they will operate over time but I couldn't be happier right now

Worked and lasted great for 10 months, Nov 2014 to Sept 2015. I don't know why they only lasted for only 10 months; both units lost all compression and were totally useless at the same time. It seems very odd; The location was in Chattanooga Tn. The climate, humid, 50f to 85f fall weather. Because of the price, I reordered another set. If the new set does not last a year, i will update this review. Alternatively, I removed and installed an old set of struts from a 1995 camper shell laying around which are still working fine on my camper shell until the new ones arrive. Has greed consumed every part of the automotive world that parts are like TP?
