This filter is very dark, too much so for a moon filter but it is the correct rated density, ND3, for use with a Herschel Wedge, combined with a linear polarizer, for solar viewing. Both filters MUST be mounted on the eyepiece or in the eyepiece holder of the wedge AFTER the wedge prism in the Herschel wedge. Improper use for solar viewing IS DANGEROUS. Baader and others have downloadable Herschel Wedge instructions. Do a web search for Baader, Lunt or other Herschel Wedge Use Instructions. The Svbony filter is only single side male threaded with no female threading so if used in a stack it must be the outermost filter.

Tonight was the first chance we got to try this looking at the moon. We could not even see the moon. I shined a flashlight through it and just could make out that there was something there. It's just way to dark to see anything.After looking at the pictures of people holding it to a television I tried my TV and Computer monitor and can't see anything.

This filter is way too dark for anything, but the ad does state it only allowed 1% of light through, and that is exactly correct. The seller was very honest and I would trust them on future purchases. Who knows, It might work for something else down the line.
