It used to be possible to get plastic screwdrivers for making adjustment on the cores of IF transformers and other electronic components where doing it with a metal tool would throw off all the readings by adding inductive mass to the component you were trying to adjust. For some reason these tools seem to have all but vanished. You can get non-magnetic screwdrivers, but they're still metal, and therefore not appropriate for some uses.So I bought this selection of plastic rods, and with the aid of a vise and a file, I made my own set of plastic drivers, for a fraction of the cost that a premanufactured set would have cost, had I been able to find one. Basically I had an immediate need for on e particular driver, but since there was a selection of rods, I spent 20 minutes and made myself a whole set. Job done.

I bought these to mask all the holes in an engine block prior to painting it. Turns out ABS plastic is easy to machine. I turned some of the rods into "all-thread" stock by mounting a die in my vise and then chucking up a rod in a drill....I pushed the end of the rod into the opening in the die and triggered the drill....presto, in about 10 seconds I had a fully threaded rod. These cut easily with side cutting and front cutting pliers. I threaded the rod into a hole in the engine block and then snipped it off using front-cutting pliers, leaving about 1/4" sticking out of the block so I could back it out once I was done painting. This worked well.

I needed these for internal connections and supports on things I was building. The rigidity and strength was perfect. They do require a saw to cut, snips won't do. All in all, they are much better than I expected.

In no way shape or form can you even remotely cut these w a pair of scissors. Which is why I bought them. JUNK!

Styrene glue doesn't work well with this type of plastic.

A good range of sizes, consistent in dimensions. Used a rod in a tube to make a sliding platform. Worked well.
