We have a 'nice' kitchen table that's often a work surface for my repairs of various broken stuff around the house, ranging from kitchen appliances to computers and small guitar amplifiers. Many of these items are reasonably heavy and have sharp edges. Oh - and don't forget the soldering iron, which occasionally drips some molten solder from its tip.Under these circumstances, it doesn't matter whether or not there's a tablecloth on the top - something bad is very likely to happen. And when that happens, my wife isn't happy. (Truth be told, neither am I - I like nice things!)So I ordered this pad to guard against the worst offense of all - scratching the finish on the table! I still may need to remove the tablecloth, or put down an older one that's seen better days, but this pad is a great start in my quest to stay out of the doghouse! Its large size assures that I'll have enough to cover the table, even when the expansion leaves are in place, giving us seating for 8. The table top is basically rectangular, with rounded ends, and it's easy to cut the pad to fit with a pair of 'good' scissors. (Yeah, I get in trouble for using the wife's 'good scissors', too...) But once it's done, this pad is good insurance against stern looks that I might otherwise receive every time I bring something inside to work on it.Water resistance is another benefit of using the pad. Somehow, I often manage to knock my coffee cup over...Anyway, this is a life saver - mine! - and I'm happy to recommend it. Five stars.

For the past few years, I have been using a vinyl table covering with a thin fabric backing to protect the wood. But several months ago, I realized the embossed lace pattern was leaving a shadow of a design on my table. Nothing permanent as I could buff it out, but why take the chance. I realized the table needed more protection. I ordered a tablecloth that matched my needs, unfortunately it didn’t match the decor. I saw this advertised and thought I’d give it a try. I’m so happy I did! It fits my table perfectly. I was able to place a beautiful tablecloth over it for aesthetics, and I didn’t even have to trim the protector pad. As you can see in my photo, it is definitely thick enough to offer adequate protection against scratches, and will keep the table dry when things get spilled, as they inevitably will. Not only does it not make crinkly noises, but it deadens noise from dishes, being passed around then placed back on the table. It is white, so I guess you could use it as a tablecloth itself, but as the name of the product states its purpose is as protector pad. The description says the backing is flannel, but it seems more like a fleece backing rather than flannel. I am so happy with this product. The price is fair if you’re wanting to protect your dining room table.I give it two thumbs up!

This is a polyester table cloth with a fuzzy, heat resistant side that is designed to keep your table from being damaged by hot items. This also works as a great pad for keeping the table cloth from sliding off the table. I know they're not supposed to, but my table is extra shiny so sometimes cloth tends to go askew once you put it on. This has kept it in place and provided a bouncy type of surface that's very easy to work with when setting the table. Things stay in place like they're supposed to. Since the surface of the table is a wood veneer, it's very reactive to heat and I have noticed a few faint circles left behind from pots. They weren't even that hot but apparently hot enough. Instead of getting a custom sized, and pricy, heat pad, I went with the table protector pad that was approximately my table's size. It's a little small, it doesn't overhang, which is fine by me. So far, no new rings, no strange discolorations. I'm happy to have found this product!

I have an antique dining room table. I cover the table with a waterproof cloth and a couple of layers of table cloth in order to protect it from spills. However, I was intrigued by protecting the table with a heavy duty table padding to protect it from any damage. If it worked, I could replace three protective covers with this one cover. When the table cover arrived I was surprised at the thickness of the cloth. It is definitely be an improvement over my current method of table protection. The 108” long cover is just the right size for my table and the drape on either size is just the right length. I provide sufficient padding to protect the table. I decided to test that it is waterproof. I spilled some tea on it, and as you can see from my photo, the tea pooled up and did not soak through the cover. If you have a smaller table, you could easily cut the material to size. My tablecloth sits smoothly on top of this cover.I am really happy with this table protector. I know that it is thick and waterproof enough to protect my treasured table from damage from hot plates and inevitable liquid spills. I just wish I had purchased this quality of table protector years ago.

This replaces two cheap flannel-backed vinyl tablecloths under my real tablecloth, and I'm pretty happy with it. It is NOT a hard table pad per se, which costs a fortune and needs to be custom fit. It would be more aptly named a "Padded Tablecloth" but hopefully everyone reading the description understands this. It is padded much more generously than a flannel backed tablecloth, which is going to give a lot more protection against solid object hitting the tabletop. It does give a more plush surface, so I will need to beware of vases and things with a narrow base from now on. It's a great size for when I have the leaves in, and upgrades my table game significantly!
