I bought this sensor to test the level of water in a tank. This type of sensor isn't as sensitive to the sides of the tank. So it doesn't pick up interference. I have been using it for over 6 months continualy and it is still working great.

I tried to use this sensor to track how much water is in a barrel. It worked more precise than the versions that only have the trigger and echo mode where you need to calculate the distance taking temperature into consideration, but after a week of operation outside (all sealed with silicone) suddenly it started giving erroneous readings (the container is 60cm deep, initially all readings were from 0-60 but now suddenly it jumps to 80cm and when I add water it jumps to 120cm...) can't really trust this readings and will replace with a pressure sensor with current loop.

Ignore my comment below - Issue was new Arduino IDE 2.0 serial monitor does not default to auto scroll like previous versions-The product malfunctioned after use for about three months. Always reads 6.25 inches (15.90 CM) no matter what distance the object is from the sensor. I bought this product to sense the water level in my chicken coop waterer because it was waterproof. It is well constructed but did not last long. I am hesitant to purchase another one since the same issue may arise. Too bad because it was the exact sensor I wanted. When it worked it provided very accurate measurements. At $28 US dollars it should have lasted much longer. I guess I will have to use the standard $5 dollar sensor.

Purchased three of these. All of them were the exact setup using an Arduino Uno and the new ping library. They work perfect and nice and stable for a while and then fail. First one lasted 4 months. The second and third lasted less then 24 hours. NOT waterproof. The rubber seals around the transducers don't seal properly. So basically there worthless.

Lacking is English instructions, yet with only four wires simple to figure out. Sensor is PWM output well suited for using the basic Arduino "ping" sketch to monitor and serial monitor to output reading. Bench testing checks out with sensor reading water level in 5 gal Home Depot Orange bucket. Sensor mounted on removal cover with two holes cut in cover so sensor can see inside water level. Sensor will be integrated into garden system monitoring tank water level. Best sensor found so far at this price/value point.
