Needed the large knitting needles for an afghan my grandson requested. The circular size is just right for the large afghan. Easy to hold and I like the bamboo needles. The metal ones lose the color onto the yarn. Have switched to the bamboo needles for my knitting as they are more comfortable to hold and there is no fraying of the needle points.

I bought the Clover size 13 bamboo DPNs over a year ago with the intent of one day learning how to use these traditional tools to make hats. In the interim, I purchased a set of circular needles with short tips and used those for a while to make other things. When the day arrived to make a pair of leg warmers, I struggled miserably with those shorty needles -- the cord was an inch too long for the project and the stitches would get stuck every time they would be worked, resulting in uneven stretched stitches and cramped hands. I nearly gave up on the leg warmers until I realized that today was the day I was going to teach myself how to use those DPNs buried in my crafts box. I now have half of a pair of leg warmers finished, thanks to these lovely Clover bamboo DPNS, and no more hand cramps! I had so much fun using these Clover bamboo DPNs that I'll never use short circular needles again for projects that can be finished using DPNs. These Clover bamboo DPNS are smooth, well finished, warm to the touch, have just enough friction to prevent your stitches from falling off, and have a very pleasant percussive sound to them as you work -- sort of like wooden wind chimes. I can't recommend these DPNs enough. Happy knitting.

Great needles! So happy I finally have my size 13 US DPNs. Glad I could find this size here b/c my local craft store never carries a size this big in DPN. With all the knitting needles out there these remain basic but it is affordable and does the job so I am happy.
