Great wallet kit. Bought for my 5 and 7 year old to make a wallet for their grandfather. The set requires a bit more skill than they have :-), so my husband did the bulk of the work, but they loved helping out. The set has everything to assemble a plain wallet, but if you are wanting to put any sort of decoration/stamps on the outer shell, you will need to buy leather stamps/mallet and also dye if you want any other color than very light tan. The inner parts of the wallet are already the dark brown shown. We bought an alphabet set off of amazon, and then later another stamp set from a local Hobby Lobby, as well as a bottle of dye/finish to complete our project. This set has instructions for whipstich (easier)- for the inner part of the wallet, and cross-stitch (harder) for the outer edge. We watched a video online on how to attach the leather cord to the needle

Purchased this for my husband who had his last leather wallet kit from childhood fall apart. He's really excited to be able to have one again. And I'm excited for the quality of leather pieces included!!

The quality was pretty good. Did not receive any instructions or even a tooling pattern, but I was able to go online to print what I wanted and re-learn the stitching technique. The finished product is beautiful.

My son made one of these in his class at school. and the dog got ahold of it and ripped the insides to pieces.I was so happy to find this kit, it is exactly the same as his old one.No design on it you need tools to make it.

So on the page and the packaging it says "includes tooling pattern." I did not find any tooling pattern in the package. Then you look at the very basic instructions and see "using Whipstitch (instructions included) and yet there's no other instructions. Also the instructions are very basic. Like there's a notch on the large piece and yet it doesn't tell you if that goes on top or bottom of the wallet.It's like they're saying "here's half the stuff you need, you figure it out"

I bought 2 different wallet kits from 2 different companies and compared them.A= Leather Unlimited. Make Your Own Leather Billfold Wallet Kit - DIY - Leather Accessory-Men-Women-Children (Women's Deluxe Billfold Kit) $9.95B= Tandy Leather. Tandy Leather Notch Billfold Kit 4001-00 $17.84A: Pros- softer inside leather (the brown leather), it is also slightly larger than B.Cons- leather back is damaged with deap cuts, button is damaged unable to clasp, leather binding is short compared to B, will possibly complete the wallet stitching. The instructions are readable but compared to B, B is better, although I prefer the pattern on A.B: Pros: the backing is undamaged and also softer, better for design. There are a lot of binding provided, the inside leather is thinner.Cons: If i had bought this first i would not list any, but given that i also have A, i am going to use design A over B. I am also going to use the larger inside leather slab in A because it is softer and thicker, but going to use the B smaller leather because i dislike the Button application on A.Both provided: needle, binding, backing, inside leather, and instructions.I will provide picture once i complete wallet upon arrival of my leather tool kit.
