I own several basses. I wanted a fretless five string and didn't want to invest too much if I decided it wasn't for me. This, frankly, dirt cheap bass required minimal setup and sounds and plays great. Super fun and zero issues with the electrics. I put some labella flats on it because it's a fretless, but man I am blown away at the quality for the price point.

I recently got back into playing bass after starting in the early 90's, having a decade long career in studio and tour work, and then getting completely out of the music business since 2003. While I've owned and played some great basses in the past, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on an instrument that will be mainly used for weekend enjoyment. Let me say that this bass is surprisingly good! I honestly expected to leave a review saying how cheap and junky it is, but I can't do that after actually receiving and playing it. The tuners do their job, the bridge is good, and the neck feels great. I'm not sure what strings this thing comes with but they're not bad. I'd say overall everything is better quality than some basses in the $400 plus range. One thing that I did notice is that the fretboard is stained with a black dye. You'll notice this too after your first time playing it and looking at your fingertips. I'll get that cleaned off when I do the first string change and oil up the fretboard. But that's no put down on this particular bass...I had a $2000 Ibanez bass that also had dye on the fretboard. But just something to be aware of.Overall, this is a solid instrument as is and would be a good platform for upgrading if you want to go down that rabbit hole.

Needed a set up out of the box wich is to be expected at this price point. Very happy with the quality and sound.

Absolutely floored at how well this bass is made, but know this: it is heavy. Came needing a little set up - the octaves were a bit sharp or flat & the action was high but easy to fix. Tuners are tight & the fret markers are only on the top neck side. Beautiful instrument & fun as hell to play.

There is a couple of important things to know about this bass. As other reviews have mentioned, it will require work to be playable, and will also require you to buy flat wound strings. It comes with round-wound string, but these will damage the fingerboard. Flats will cost you around $50-60.The nut on this guitar is for fretted guitars. The first few frets will be unplayable out of the box. You will need to sand down the nut a considerable amount. I did this using a coping saw to excavate, and old bass strings wrapped in sandpaper to detail.I also had to loosen the truss rod a bit.The pickups work, but coming bartolini's, they're a bit rough.

I needed a fretless 5 string for a new project that tunes down 1/2 step, decided to take a chance on one of these. I am impressed with the sound and playability, excellent instrument and fantastic value...

Easily twice as heavy as my fretted Bass. It does deliver the cool "wow, wah wow wow" sounds you might hear in a Michael Hedges or Jaco Pastorius song. That Wah sound is pretty much the whole basis of getting a fretless bass for me. It is Cool! This thing is Heavy though.
