About Taro's Origami Studio and Origami Master, Taro Yaguchi
Taro’s Origami Studio was first founded in 2011 at Park Slope, Brooklyn by Taro Yaguchi with the ambition to share the benefits of origami. Taro’s mission is to create more exposure to the culture of origami by immersing spectator involvement as well as demonstrating the benefits. Taro’s Origami Studio now has a second location in Oakland, California. The studio offers drop-in sessions and classes for folders of any level as well as materials for this craft. The studio also has items such as gift boxes, greeting cards, Iwako erasers and other Japanese products. Over the last five years, Taro’s has worked with clients from all over the country.
Taro Yaguchi is a patent lawyer who is also a celebrated origami artist. He developed the love for paper as a child growing up in Japan and it began with his grandfather's business of washi, Japanese traditional paper. As an origami artist, he always challenges himself in ways he can share the art of origami with the world. Since the rebirth of origami in his life, Taro has introduced an origami method system, giant folding demonstrations, and Life through Folding.
Since opening the first origami studio in New York City, Taro hopes to show the endless benefits of origami. Taro's Origami Method helps individuals understand the spatial relationships in a piece of paper in order to make a model. The method also allows for cognitive opportunities such as learning patience, muscle memory, creativity, and happiness.
The philosophy of the studio was to display the importance of origami experience by sharing with an audience and therefore he began demonstrating Giant Origami Folding performances. Here he brings a solitary activity, often kept at home, to a stage that invites collaboration. Since his first demonstration at the Children's Museum of Manhattan, he has done live performances for Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Montclair Museum, Harmony for Peace Foundation, Japan Embassy and Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia.Made in Japan
Taro's Origami Studio - Origami Paper are all made in Japan, origami's home country. Our paper is sourced from Japan's top origami paper manufacturers including TOYO, SHOWA-GRIMM and KURASAWA. The paper is carefully prepared and cut using large scale machines to ensure high quality color and precision by highly-skilled paper craftsmen and the color inks used to dye the paper are deemed as safe according to the Food Sanitation Act of Japan.
This set contains standard size origami paper with 23 colors and 300 sheets.
You need to choose the paper based on the type and difficulty of the origami model you'd like to fold. This six inch square paper is the standard size, and you can fold many origami models from it. In this value package, you get 300 sheets in 23 assorted colors.

My kids used a few thousand pieces of origami papers, and tried 4 different brands. We like this one the most so far1. The papers are actually squares (so many other brands were not)2. The papers are thin, very important for more complicated models3. The papers are strong, can survive multiple folds4. Two sided colors: making it easier to follow instructions, while adding realistic details since many models utilize two colors.

This is my favorite standard paper. It’s actually square, you would be surprised how many cheaper brands I’ve purchased that aren’t. The colors are nice, and I like that they are one side color only, it makes teaching people how to fold easier since you can see what side of the paper you are on. They crease fairly easily and cleanly and the models hold their shape for years, even in humid environments. Best bang for your buck if you want to just fold a bunch and hand em out or teach people.

The paper is origami paper, not cut up construction paper like some of the other options on amazon. There's a lot of different colors (I got the full 500 pack) but do be warned gold and silver foil are only 1 piece each (definitely misleading, should clarify that, but Im not bothered much. I read the reviews before buying). Besides that, the paper seems to be pretty good, it seems to be cut well, and I can only come up with two minor complaints. First being that the colors aren't organized. It seems like there were 3 different sections put together, and each section had a repeating pattern of several colors. So you have to flip through and dig for the color you want. That doesn't detract from the quality though. The package also doesn't have much rigidity, so they came slightly curved because of shipping. They didn't the paper in a box, it was in an amazon bag. Now, the paper may come slightly curved, but its definitely not going to be ruined my moisture because they double cellophaned the paper, which is massively appreciated.Again, minor complaints, I just got back into origami for the first time in years and this paper works wonders. I love having all the different color options for different designs, I love the fact that this is actual origami paper, not dual sided cut up construction paper (because some designs dont work with dual sided), and I think you get this for a reasonable price. More likely than not I'm going to rebuy this if its still up whenever I finally run out of this pack.

Unlike 95% of origami papers on this site, this is actually origami paper. Colored on one side with a smooth matte finish, white on the back, thin, and doesn't rip or fall apart when folded.Other papers from other companies are just "squares" of construction paper. Double check that the product you are buying is actaully origami paper (like this product).There is however one MAJOR flaw with this product: the packing material. Normally, you are not supposed to talk about packaging in reviews, but the packaging significantly lowers the quality and usability of the paper in this case. This origami paper does NOT come in a box. It is wrapped in plastic. This means that the corners of the paper arrived damaged and slightly bent ON EVERY CORNER of EVERY SHEET. This affects the accuracy and aesthetics of any model you fold with this product.That said, the defects caused by insufficient packaging are small (but still noticeable), and you might not care. For a beginner or someone just dipping their toes in the waters of origami, this probably isn't that big of a deal. For the price, this is still a fantastic product. I, however, have done origami for several years at an low-intermediate level. So, this blemish upsets me.

As an economy pack of kami, this price can't be beat! At $0.03/sheet, this has been the best value I've bought recently. Here's the breakdown of the colors:-15 colors, 24 sheets each-6 colors, 23 sheets each-Gold and Silver foil paper, 1 sheet eachPros: thin, single-sided, easy to fold, holds folds well, great color variety, and great value!Cons: when counting each paper, I noticed the paper quality has a waxy texture in some of the sheets that can make for awkward folding, but this doesn't detract from the overall rating. However, the foil sheets leave more to be desired, but it's only 2 of the 500.Overall, I'm satisfied with the value and quality of paper and would highly recommend!

Thin enough to fold many times, but not so thin that it easily tears. These are single sided, so the color is only on one side. Be aware of this before you buy.

I purchased these as a gift for an 8 year old. He loves these as he is really into origami. I think he already used up half in a matter of days. If he needs more, I will not hesitate to order more. These are one side color and the other side is white. Thickness is perfect for making folds.

The package arrived torn open! I now unfortunately read a few other reviews of people who had the same thing. I obviously not going to count the pages and see if anything is missing and I don't have time to return it (It's part of a Christmas present!)- I don't recommend this product to anyone!!
