I ordered this based on a trip we are taking to go fishing in FL. However, I have messed around with it to see how durable it is. It feels very sturdy.I had a gaff hook that "said" it was 8mm threads, but was too small for this pole. I am ordering another gaff hook and will confirm if it fits. The hook I did have seemed cheaply made so I am thinking it was the hook that was not 8MM, and not the pole. We will see.Either way, I really love the size and feel of this gaff pole, very nice!!!

This will hold a decent amount of weight when fully extended. The handle grip is nice and comfortable. My issue is with the extension movement and collar. The collar feels very cheap and thin. I would not want to get sand or saltwater in this, the grit and abrasion would stop this in its tracks.
