made pretty well for most applications. I was putting a pretty heavy scope on the top and the ball head did not hold well, and failed on me.. I sent it back and got a refund no problem through amazon and went with one with no ball head. Stability on something under 1.5 lbs should be just fine but not much over that.

This is a terrible product. I would say it broke on the first use, but fell apart is a better description. I was about 30 feet down on a scuba dive about to film a feeding sea ray with my GoPro. I grabbed the stick and when I tried to power on my camera, the selfie stick’s screw on GoPro mount just slid out of the end of the stick. The stick was only tried / extended once before entering the water, so I knew how it worked. There are no threads inside the telescoping pole. The thin aluminum appears to just be pinched onto the mount. Garbage product, literally. AVOID! Lucky my expensive camera didn’t just fall off and get lost in the surf.

The part at the tip of the extension that connects to the pivoting ball is a very flawed design and just friction fit (NOT threaded), so it's only a matter of time before it comes loose and you either break or lose your camera.I've used many in the past and abuse them regularly snowboarding, skating, or using them as hiking poles and they always outlast the camera they hold or get stolen. This is the only one I was gentle with, filming on a boat and as soon as it touched the water while snorkeling it came apart and I couldn't shoot anymore.Looks like the price basement is still about $30-45 for anything decent these days, so I would avoid this product unless you're going to be SUPER gentle with it, unlike what action cameras are designed for.

I'm giving it three stars, and here's why: the locking mechanism might not be as reliable as you'd expect. I've noticed that when I'm moving my action camera a lot, it can start to loosen up a bit, which means I have to pause to readjust and secure it.
