About this item

  • ACCURATE TEMPERATURE SENSING - The LuxHeat Universal Floor Sensor accurately measures the floor temperature and communicates with the thermostat, to increase the comfort and efficiency of the floor heating system
  • UNIVERSAL - NTC 10k ohm Probe, Compatible with all types of radiant heating systems, and compatible with most types of thermostat controllers, including Aube, Honeywell, NuHeat, SunTouch, Ditra and OJ Electronics
  • FLEXIBLE sensor cable is easy to install and can be cut short or lengthened as required. The 15 foot (4.3m) length is suitable for most standard installations, for optimal placement in the heated room for accurate temperature measuring
  • SIMPLE TO INSTALL - neutral polarity floor sensor is quick and easy to connect to your thermostat. Tough cable insulation protects against damage during flooring installation.
  • BETTER safe than sorry, install a back-up floor sensor to avoid unnecessary lifting of floors should primary sensor fail. Thermistor reads 10k ohm as 77degF/25DegC.

THE UNIVERSAL FLOOR SENSOR by LuxHeat is a reliable and accurate temperature probe designed to monitor the temperature of the floor heating system and communicate with the thermostat controller, to accurately adjust the temperature of the heating system to ensure optimal comfort levels in the room. WHY DO I NEED A FLOOR SENSOR? Accurate temperature monitoring can greatly increase the comfort and economy of a radiant heat system. Certain types of flooring (e.g. laminate wood floors) require a floor sensor, as per the manufacturer's instructions, to limit floor temp. HOW DOES IT WORK? The thermistor changes its resistance reading according to the temperature that surrounds the probe. This reading is communicated to the thermostat, the thermostat interprets resistance reading and adjusts heating system accordingly. HOW DO I INSTALL IT? The temperature sensor probe must be taped or glued to the floor substrate between two of the floor heating cables. The connections on the end of the Floor Sensor are connected to the correct terminals on the thermostat controller.

This sensor is a little more robust than the one that came with the thermostat. I’m pleased. It tested perfectly bupon installation and I hope I never need it, but it’s under the tile and ready to go if the other sensor fails.

I purchased this sensor as a backup to the one that came with my heated floor mat I installed. I ended up going with this one as the primary one because it looked and felt better made than the one that came with it. It’s always a good idea to embed at least a spare sensor in the heated flooring mortar underneath the tiles because if it goes bad you can hook up to the backup without tearing anything out. The sensor is very important because if it isn’t working properly then the thermostat will not turn on and off the heated flooring as needed because it needs the feedback from the sensor. This sensor was easy to install. It is also accurate. I tested it at various times with my fluke temperature sensor and it was spot on with it.

I bought the wire and controller separate and the strapping separate as well. This completed the job at a great price. I have not put a thermometer on the floor to see if it is exact but my toes say its pretty close

This was purchased as a backup temperature sensor for an in-floor heat system. The cable has a flag label indicating it is a back up item. Hopefully if needed in the future it works. The unknown

End is really big… bigger than the sensor that came with the heating system (this was installed as a back up sensor). Make sure you plan for it. I carved out a hole in the Durarock underneath the sensor so it doesn’t stick up too high.
