Good product. Does accurate job. Temperature reading is not so accurate and as of this point i am doubting thermocouple which i received with it. I will try my old thermocouple which i have been using for years. It would have been better if the user had an option to select the unit of temperature (C or F). Other than all this for this price you cant expect any better.

Great little meter. I needed one that could do instant inrush current, and this one works great. I have 4+ meters of various types, and this one is my new "go to" meter.

I have several more expensive and very capable meters but none of them have a function to measure inrush current. Inrush is the short term current that is present for only a few milliseconds when an electrical load is first turned on. I bought this meter to be able to compare before and after inrush current when installing an air conditioner "soft start" module. It did the trick. It gives repeatable results. The accuracy seems to be good - tested using a calibrated shunt resistor, incandescent light bulb, and oscilloscope. As expected it is designed to capture the inrush typical of a motor's inductive load - it seems to average the first couple of 60Hz power cycles. It will not display the much higher instantaneous peak current that occurs when an incandescent light bulb is turned on just as the power supply waveform is at its peak. This meter is perfect for it's intended use!

The TESMEN TCM-300A Digital Clamp Meter 6000 Counts T-RMS amp meter Auto-Ranging multimeter Voltmeter with AC Current AC/DC Voltage NCV/Live Wire Inrush Resistance Diode Temperature Continuity (Blue) has a decent build quality and some weight to it, likely due to the iron core transformer. The clamp meter is undoubtedly the star of the instrument, even though it functions reasonably well as a multimeter with the probes. I compared my old digital clamp meter with the 300A.The main feature of the 300A’s clamp meter is its ability to measure T-RMS current (True Root Mean Square current). Simply put, T-RMS current is directly proportional to the wattage consumed by the load, regardless of whether the power source is a sinusoidal or non-sinusoidal waveform. For instance, my electric heater was measured to have a T-RMS current of 5.9A, which means the heater has a wattage of 120V*5.9=708W.While the actual measurement of the T-RMS current is more complex than the measurement of the instantaneous current, you can think of it as an integral of the square of the instantaneous current averaged over time.I measured the current of several electric appliances at home using both clamp meters. The results are as follows:Appliance, TCM-300A, my old Clamp Meter- Electric Kettle, 11.59A, 11.6A- Laptop Charger, 0.17A, 0.13A jumping around- Electric Heater, 5.9A, 5.9A- Old Desktop PC at 100% CPU, 1.75A, 1.3A jumping aroundThe two meters agreed very well on the current measurements for the electric Kettle and the electric heater, which is good as both are resistive loads. However, their readings differed significantly for switching power supplies, as in the laptop charger and my old desktop PC. The old meter’s readings were unstable and fluctuated, indicating that it is not measuring T-RMS current, which is a more stable time-average quantity. On the other hand, the TCM-300A readings were quite stable despite measuring a constantly switching current. This suggests that the TCM-300A was indeed measuring True RMS current, and this measurement technique is effective in measuring the power consumption of appliances powered by switching power supplies.Using my old desktop PC as an example, the total power consumption would be 120*1.75A = 210W. This number is very believable as I have a 300W power supply and no graphics cards in the PC. I am delighted to finally have a tool to measure the true power consumption of my desktop PC. The Tesmen TCM-300A clamp meter is excellent! As a measurement note, when measuring the current of any AC appliance with a standard 3-prong plug using a clamp meter, you need to do so with an AC line splitter. Simply clamping on an AC cord of the appliance will not work. Now that the most exciting part is over, let’s quickly review the other features of the TCM-300A. While it is designed to auto-function select between the amp, volt, and ohm meters, I suggest manually selecting one of the 3 meters of your choice. Just press the FUNC/AUTO key. In a rare case when I wanted to measure the voltage of a dead Li-ion battery, it gave me a resistance value! However, this does not happen very often compared to a cheaper model by the same manufacturer. TCM-300A appears much more robust in this regard. The DC voltage readings of my 1.5V and 3.3V batteries are consistent with the digital multimeters I have. I am satisfied.Resistance tests were performed on my resistor test set of 8.2, 24, 200 ohms, 3.9, 24.1, 100, 680 kohms, and 1.5 mega ohms. The measurements were all fairly accurate.Capacitance tests were performed on my capacitor test set of 10, 15, 22, 82, 470p, 1, 8.2, 47, and 100nF, and the meter is quite accurate when the capacitance is 470p and above. At 82p, there is a significant error of 50%. Below 82p, the meter does not detect any capacitors at all. This kind of capacitance meter performance is inferior to a few multimeters I have tested. However, I think this is acceptable as the core function of this meter is measuring T-RMS current using the clamp transformer. The NCV works fairly well using the tip of the clamp as the NCV sensor. I can get an alert right outside an electrical receptacle. However, like 2 other TESMEN multimeters I have tested, they tend to be overly sensitive and respond to a 5V or a laptop charging cable. Nevertheless, I would rather they are more sensitive. The frequency counter has a much lower sensitivity than other Tesmen multimeters I have tested. Unfortunately, it did not respond to my cell phone’s audio signal generator. I think one will need a higher signal level for the counter to work, but I have not tried it. Again, this feature is not the focus of the instrument under review. In conclusion, the TESMEN TCM-300A Digital Clamp Meter has been tested to be accurate and reliable in measuring true RMS current via the clamp transformer. It has no problem measuring the true RMS current and hence the true power consumption of switching power supplies in addition to linear power supply or resistive loads. However, it is performing at a slightly lower level when it comes to the capacitance meter and the frequency counter. However, this should not come as a surprise as the main feature of the 300A is the T-RMS clamp meter. I love the clamp meter as I can now accurately measure devices powered by switching power supplies. This has been a great order for me.

This is a pretty comprehensive claps meter for a really cheap price and runs off of 3 x AAA batteries. This meter has many features as well as quality of life ones such as a backlit screen and a torch.Testing the clap meter where I fell into the trap of many others thinking it wasn't working when I tried testing. For those not aware this only work on AC and only on the live or neutral cables which you will find near your electric meter and or fuse board. This does not work with cables that contain both the live and neutral. I really wish these clap would read DC as it would have been great use when working on my car.The multimeter works great and its use case is identical to any other multimeter. The one advantage is this has an auto setting. Personally I'm not a fan of "auto" settings but for those with little experience using such meters or just don't know what setting to use like my parents this is great for the more casual user.I was surprised to see a this meter comes with a thermocouple to measure temperature. Probably not something that most will use but can be useful for task such and monitoring the flow and return temps on your radiators to help balance your heating system. Or checking the efficiency of the A/C system in your car or house.Overall I think this is a good meter although it feels very prosumer. If you are looking for a clamp meter it might be worth looking for one that does DC as well as AC. If you only want to use the multimeter probes then there are cheaper ones that do just that.
