This skeg piece is great. It fits perfectly on the bottom of an old Mercruiser outdrive. I cut my damaged keel off, ground it flat, wire-wheeled the paint off and had a local welder tig weld this piece on. Spray painted it black and it’s like-new!

Quality product. Well cast and not full of impurities. There was a couple areas that were thicker than the original but we just ground them down to match before TIG welding it to the outdrive.

This is a solid piece of aluminum. IT DOES NOT SLIDE OVER EXISTING SKAG. IT HAS TO BE WELDED ON. If your skag has be sheered off this is a great replacement.

I hit a rock and sheered the existing skeg right off my boat. I ordered this one and had a metal shop in town weld it on. Its not pretty, but will work. I own a mercuiser alpha 1 gen1.

these skegs are much much thicker than what is needed,and actually some scrap aluminium works just as good if not better to fix ur broken off skeg,and much cheaper using some scrap

Nice repair piece but it will not work on an inline six without extensive grinding and shaping.

Bought the MERC one for my OMC COBRA which broke just below gear housing due to OMC one being almost twice the price of Merc version. Was no problem to fit to OMC as they have to be cut and ground to match your break anyway. Welded nicely. Be sure to leave gear oil in to act as heat sink then replace with fresh oil.

These are nice and thick and seem a little oversized, which is good because it gives plenty of room to trim it for proper fitment onto your broken skeg.
