This product is a replacement for the original Basement Watchdog primary sump pump which died after 5 years. Because I had purchased a combo package with both primary and backup pumps, I called the manufacturer to determine which specific pump I needed, which is this one The customer service rep was very helpful, and I found out the price on Amazon was almost $50 less than the price directly from them. He said if I purchased the product from a source other than them, to call back and register the product serial number with them. When I did so, they added an additional year to the warranty (3 years rather than 2), and also provided me a NO COST replacement check valve, which does NOT come with this pump. The reason they do this is because it's virtually impossible to re-use the original check valve, as it gets damaged during removal. Plus, check valves purchased locally from either a big box store or plumbing supply is in the vicinity of $20.It took almost a week to receive the replacement check valve, as it got delayed due to Christmas rush. But after I got it, the replacement install only took about half an hour, and the system was up and running. The documentation, including several videos are very helpful.

I have had the basement watchdog big combo connect installed for over 20 years. In that time I’ve had to replace the battery only once, which is amazing, and the primary pump finally failed. That longevity is also amazing. I give the product 5 stars. This BW SIT-50D pump is the replacement to the old BW-1050. The specs are the same more or less. I give the product 5 stars but Amazon gets 1. The product came with a damaged controller. I reached out to Amazon to replace the controller and they were no help. After 20 minutes in a chat and on the phone with a live agent, I was told the only thing I could do is send the entire order back and order it again. I reminded the agent of what this item is for and the risk of a flooded basement should a power outage occur. He politely apologized for about the fifth time but returning and ordering another was Amazon’s only solution. I hung up called Glentronics and within 5 minutes, I had a new controller on tje way via FedEx. Brian at Glentronics couldn’t have been nicer, more professional, and helpful. He understood the system I had and I told him the age. He was certain I was going to have a challenge with the check valve on my old system and he added one to my order at no charge. This is typical of Glentronics. When I replaced my battery a couple of years ago purchased from HD, there was no yellow probe cap included with the battery. I called them and they immediately sent one out. Glentronics backs their products and has some of the best customer service. I just installed the replacement pump and I’m using the old controller and float switch until a new one arrives. I suspect this pump will give me many years of service like its predecessor. I do not want to penalize the product so I’ll leave a 5 star review. If I could rate Amazon separately on this transaction, I’d give them a 1 star review for resolving the broken product. I order a lot from Amazon and this is the exception. I rarely have a problem getting things resolved through their customer service process.

I was able to install this myself thanks to the outstanding customer service and intuitively designed pump. It actually was a pleasure, quite satisfying, to do this install on my own. An important lesson I’ve learned through this process is that you must be aware of your sump pit diameter and make sure that the pump you order is appropriate for that diameter. My particular pit is on the smaller side, with an 11 inch diameter. This pump is perfect — designed to work in narrower pits — because the discharge is directly from the top, not off to the side. This results in less space taken up. Also, the float is in this unique protective cage. You’ll appreciate this feature more if you take a look at the details of the product, and the function of each. Overall, I highly recommend doing business with the Basement Watchdog folks.

I bought this pump and controller to replace several older and cheaper pumps. So far, it is working well. i really like the enclosed switch with the secondary float. I'm in the process of adding a second pump and switch to act as a backup to the backup. I'm happy.

Pump is great, and delivery also. However, the present model has the discharge located at the top of the pump which makes it difficult to install compared to the original due to tight spacing. I installed, with difficulty, but was not able to replace the check valve.

I will never buy a standpipe sump again. This pump works great, very powerful. It has the center discharge so does not take up space in sump.

We bought this to replace our current pump. It came with a broken handle. We are very disappointed. We had no choice but to install it broken as our current pump is barely working. This is very frustrating to spend this much time and money on an already damaged pump. However, The pump itself works well and in that respect we are pleased.
