All tips come with rubber covers for safety and storage. Sharpened points improve accuracy by creating a prick punch to use as a dimple while the other leg pivots to form an arc or circle. The angular legs are ideal for producing round shapes on metal or wood, ensuring exact measurements the first time. The fit of the extremely simple adjustment knob is not only built loose, but the cone is too big and gets stuck on each thread of the adjustment bolt. Overall they have nice legs but don’t do anything but cause headaches.
