THE EARL OF SUNDERLAND is the fourth book to be released in the "Wicked Earls' Club" series. Each of those that I've read so far however are more or less standalone stories that don't need to be read in any particular order. I would still highly recommend picking up the short prologue titled THE WICKED EARLS CLUB though, especially since it's free.Christopher "Kit" Roker is a second son who has made a success of himself in the military. Then he learns he's unexpectedly and tragically inherited a title he never wanted... Grace Beaumont is an independent and headstrong young woman who has seen her own share of loss. She never intends to marry and is instead content taking care of her loved ones... But when their worlds collide and Kit decides he wants Grace for his own, she'll have a decision to make. Does she risk it all and place her future in Kit's capable hands, or or will she walk away from the only man to have ever touched her heart?I thought this story was both well written and emotionally engaging. And while I didn't love it like most others seemed to have, it was still a good read. There were so many endearing characters, not only Kit and Grace, but her father, brother, and cousin too. The beginning of this book even had me with tears in my eyes, it was just so heartbreaking. However, I was disappointed that the "Club" didn't play more of a role in the story and that the romance took so long to get off the ground. Besides one brief encounter in the beginning they don't meet again until more than a third of the way along, and their first kiss wasn't until more than three-quarters of the way through. It was still a sweet romance though and pretty clean too, since there wasn't even a single love scene. Overall I was very impressed with Ms. Wynne's writing and am glad to have read Kit and Grace's love story =)At the end of this story the author mentions that Kit is an ancestor of the villain from her medieval romance ROLF'S QUEST and that we haven't seen the last of these characters yet, though we may have a bit of a wait. The good news is that Eliza's book (Grace's cousin and best friend) is up next though, and I'm already really looking forward to it!Ages: Grace (20) Christopher (32)Setting: Most of the story takes place in 1815 England, except for one chapter in 1814 and a prologue in 1810.Kindle Locations: The story itself ended at 91% and location 1929 of 2118 with the remainder containing an excerpt for the EARL OF BASINGSTOKE by Aileen Fish, a note about the author, and a list of other books by Aubrey Wynne.

Meet the newest member of the Wicked Earls’ Club: Earl of Sunderland.Christopher (Kit) Roker never imagined he’d be the Earl of Sunderland. Sure, his twin brother was a bit of a wild man but when he’s tragically killed, Kit is forced to end his illustrious career in the military and return home. He’s introduced to the Wicked Earls’ Club and its illustrious members. While grieving the loss of his brother he meets Lady Grace, a beautiful woman who makes him laugh and his grief lessen.Grace watched in horror six years ago as her mother gave up her life in childbirth. Not only did she lose her beloved mother but had to become a mother to her newborn brother and companion to her father. She loves her independence and has no interest in becoming a wife or mother. But things change in her heart as she spends day after day with the Earl of Sunderland. When he shares his feelings for her, she flees in terror. It’s only after being apart does she realize her true feelings for Kit. Can she bury her fear and let in love or will she forever be alone? The whole time I was reading this book, I kept saying to myself how this reminded me of Pride and Prejudice. Is Aubrey Wynne the reincarnation of Jane Austen? Only she knows for sure, but the similarities are there. A tragedy or two, heroine both strong and fragile, hero conflicted about his feelings, secondary characters fleshed out, humor and wit peppered throughout the dialogue as well as a happy ending. Best Regency Romance I’ve read in a long time and highly recommend! My Rating: 5+ stars

I do not like using the Lord’s name the wrong way. Thinking men need a prostitute to satisfy their urges is wrong in my thinking.

What a treat! I never thought I would laugh out loud while reading a regency romance. The plots usually concentrate on the developing relationship of the hero and heroin and have plenty of angst. And although this book has that, the author also weaves in plenty of delightful humor. The prologue is very dramatic and really grabbed my attention. Fifteen-year-old Grace Beaumont endures the death of her mother in childbirth. Although the baby boy survives, producing an heir, Grace never fully recovers from the experience. She takes over the household, caring for her father and brother and becomes very independent. Marriage, to her, means domination by a husband and bearing children, two things she fears the most. Enter Christopher Roker, and his twin brother, Carson, who has to assume the title of the Earl of Sunderland because he was born first. Carson marries Grace's first cousin, Eliza. When Carson is killed, leaving a pregnant wife, Chris has to leave his military career and take on the title, knowing that he won't keep it if the coming baby is a boy. The scene is gradually set for Chris and Grace to meet and fall in love, despite her fears and his unknown future. Woven into the story is Grace's five-year-old brother, Sammy, who is a comical little boy who creates havoc and laughter wherever he goes. The plot is clever and the characters are well developed. It is a great read. I enjoyed every page.

Such strong and charismatic characters. Evenlittle Samuel played a significant roll in this story. This is well worth another reading at a later date. How often do you find a story you want to revisit? Well….. this one is it. Be sureto follow this author.

The main characters have traumatic pasts to overcome. Seems they are able to bring each other to the light. But the reason is because... Love! Easy to like characters plus how love makes the world a better place excellent type of story.

A short sweet story, well written and very entertaining.Eliza and Carson are wed in an arranged marriage because her father is a spiteful, conniving bully and sold her to the highest bidder! The marriage turned out better than anyone anticipated but unfortunately was short lived, we then meet Eliza's cousin Grace who from the age of fifteen had supported and cared for her bereaved father and infant brother, who is five at the time of the story and what an absolute delight he is, I could have adopted him, he was so special. Due to Carson's death we also meet again, Christopher (Kit) his twin brother, whom we had already met at his brother's wedding. Kit had been in the army for years and gave up his commission, with a view to taking up the role of the p Earl of Sunderland, which had to be left in abeyance as Eliza is pregnant. The story revolves around Grace and Kit getting to know one another and developing stronger feelings, which are frightening to say the least for Grace as she has deep emotional problems. All in all it was a lovely, and gently paced story, some amusing moments due to Samuel (Sammy) antics. I would thoroughly recommend it.

You will enjoy this story with all its sadness interrupted by a over zealous, procosious little boy with all his pranks and energy. As love heals griving adults.
