So, I might not know JUST HOW GREAT these things are if I hadn't spoken to the owner of the company today, who phoned me personally at home on a Saturday after receiving a distraught complaint message that my two locks were defective. I had looked up the company through my Amazon order and sent the message, after which I saw that they have a customer service number I could call M-F.The company owner called directly from his personal cell and talked me through a little work-around that got them working again. So, how do they work and not work? Magnets! Once these fit onto the hose bibb (with your key inside) you hear and feel a sort of click into place. Then you remove your key (containing a magnet), and your precious water is on serious lockdown from thieves. Once you need to access your water, you simply insert the key and start unscrewing. My hiccup today was that the lock kept turning in place rather than unscrewing, which is exactly what it does for the people you want to keep out, and what you want it to do to them. But when your magic key is in there, you want it to come off. Apparently a couple of taps on the locking device itself helps tap the "sleeping" magnet back into place, because it worked on both locks that were jammed up. The gracious owner still offered to let me return these in exchange for the brass version with a traditional key at no extra charge. He explained that the brass ones are more costly to make, which is why they are more, and that w/o regular maintenance like WD40 they could fail from corrosion. But that the magnets should last with no maintenance at all, which is how they came to be invented. And they're cheaper to make because the parts are less than brass. Fascinating!Even with the hiccup today I opted to take the leap of faith on the magnets, because I just love the innovative technology.I think if you've checked the listing you can see you can order as many as you want all keyed the same (one key = multiple locks) or keyed differently, but that is a nice bonus for those of us who like it simple. The keys are lightweight and plastic and just plain bizarre. The locks themselves are very heavy and feel sturdy and well made.It seems that the occasional one might fail or be a lemon, but rarely, and if so, it sure seems this company will more than take care of you. I've never gotten service like that EVER. It's rumored the world was like this back in the '50s, but I'm an unfortunate product of mega-corps and phone tree robots that never get a human on the line. I was really blown away by this level of service.

I bought this Water Lock three years ago in 2020. It protected the outdoor faucet at my condo from others that were turning the water and leaving it running. Easy to install / uninstall. Last week, the lock would no longer stay locked. I reached out to the company and Mark, president of the company, responded to my email and is sending me a new lock. That is great customer service! This is a great product to keep others from wasting water and charging you for their bad behavior.

I installed 8 of these on rental units. Easy to install. Tested it and it locked and unlocked as expected. Seemed like a good solution. Problem is after about 6 months they no longer unlock... put the key in and the head just spins and spins. I tried multiple of the right number keys and none worked. I used a small screwdriver to pop off the lock ring and removed the lock. I could see dirt/grime/mildew around the magnet in the lock, preventing it from moving, and of course unlocking. Obviously there is not a sufficient seal to prevent the elements from contaminating the innards of the lock, which over time rends it useless. Buy only if you never want to remove because after awhile you won't be able to remove it except by destroying it.

Great product that works exactly as it should. Almost too well. If you lose the key that comes with the lock, you are out of luck with accessing that water source again.

Two decades ago, we saw this product at Home Depot. The security of this product has so many advantages compared to other water locking devices. It's hard alloy of nickel is very sturdy and solid product. Also, this product requires a special key to release it. Another option, you can have different keys made for your product. We purchased the product decades ago because we caught someone stealing water, from our outdoor spigot, at 2 am. We were the ones paying the water bill, so we took action and purchased this specific lock. Screw it onto your spigot and walk away. You hold the key to open the spigot when you need to.***Purchasing a fancy cover with a locking device that can be cut via bolt cutters isn't security.***

Regardless of what some people may think, water theft is not a victim-less crime. The gardeners at my townhouse community would use my faucet on a regular basis...without asking!! I already pay an HOA fee but now they think I will pay for their watering needs!!??!! No way! I put the lock on my faucet the other day. It was very easy to apply. Then I waited for the gardener...I'll just call him Mr. Gardener. I peaked through the blinds in my living room window and listened to the roar of lawnmowers that grew louder and louder. I knew Mr. Gardener would soon arrive. Suddenly, there he was in dark green coveralls approaching my townhouse with laser focus. He only wanted one thing. In some parts, they like to call it wet gold. But I refer to it as.....MY water. Mr. Gardener placed his old dusty plastic bucket under MY faucet with anticipation and turned MY faucet handle. But nothing came out. He had the look of confusion. He had the look of defeat. My entire being was filled with satisfaction. You know, the kind of feeling you get when you finally finish a difficult task and take a step back to look at all your hard work with pride. Yeah, that was me at that very moment. Now I must admit that I thought the lock itself would serve as a deterrent especially for someone in his profession, but Mr. Gardener was relentless. He still tried to steal my wet gold! But he finally realized that he was no match for The FaucetLock II flow lock system and instead went to my annoying neighbor's faucet and filled the bucket with water. That was the icing on the cake. So I highly recommend this lock to protect your valuable wet gold. Just place it on your faucet... and let the adventures begin. Inspired by a true story.
