I installed two of these in an Evenrude 6hp outboard (circa 1974). Installation can be tricky because if you mount them where the old breaker points once were mounted you MUST make sure the connecting wires are very short and closely tied down. this mounting is underneath the flywheel. The first time I installed these I did not make sure the wires were trimmed closely and they got RIPPED apart in an instant. So the next time I trimmed the wires very close and made sure they stayed out of the way of the flywheel. Now the motor runs great. No points to file, no dwell to set. Just plug and play.

1st module did not work. Troubleshot and could not get it to fire. Swapped out just the modules, leaving wiring in place and 2nd module worked great. Removed module and replaced with 1st one just to be sure and it would not fire again. I had plans for both modules, so I am a little bummed one did not work, but the other one worked great and my old HH120 Tecumseh starts and runs so much better than with Points & Condenser.Easy installation, need a magnifying glass to read the instructions, but they aren't hard. 1 wire grounds behind module mount, other wire to ignition coil. If module doesn't fire, reverse connections. Easy!

USED ONE OF THESE TO REPLACE A NOVA MODULE FROM LIL RED BARN THAT I HAD JUST INSTALLED AND THE NOVA MODULE FAILED AFTER ABOUT 5 CUTS. SWAPPED IT OUT WITHH ONE OF THESE AND CUT A LOAD OF WOOD-RAN PERFECTLY. LIL RED BARN NEVER MADE GOOD ON THEIR PROMISE TO REPLACE THE PART-1 SENT IT BACK AS WAS TOLD TO DO AND EMAILED WITH NO REPLY BACK. MUCH BETTER PRICE ON THESE ALSO.

Late review. Bought in May of 23. I tried to use these igniter modules on several old Chrysler outboards to replace the points and condensers. Just could not get them to work. I'm not saying they don't work I'm saying I can't get them to work. I'm missing something or I'm probably doing something wrong. I put back the points and condenser set it up and the outboard runs.

Finally had a chance to work on the Simplicity Landlord mower today and after installing the new carburator I checked on the old points and condenser. After checking them out I went in the shop and pulled out one set and installed the unit. The unit was easy to install, the directions were clear and easy to follow. After it was installed I gave the engine a small shot of starting ether and the engine roared to life. Going the cover the wires with wire loom for a more finished appearance , but really pleased with my first time using this product.

I used two of these on a 1969 Evinrude outboard. Just remove the old points and condensers. Connect the coils to the kill switch wires. Connect one of the ignition modules to one wire and one to the other. +to the kill switch wire and the - to ground. No other adjustments required. This 18hp motor runs at 35km/hr now.
