This is a great quality soil probe but the probe/stem is a little thicker than anticipated. It does have a nice coating material which makes it smooth to touch. Unfortunately I will be returning because it just too thick and the safety cap is open ended-not closed at the tip and as pictured. If I had large plants I would def keep it.

If you got lots of plants, this is a must have. Better than those water meters. This one is more accurate.

One thing I've learned after years of caring for plants is to never water on a set schedule. Different plants have different needs and varying conditions can contribute to watering needs. I've used multiple digital/analog moisture meter probes, all of which were entirely inaccurate, inconsistent, or just stopped working after a brief period. After that, I used a bamboo chopstick, but need to rinse it off between uses. This probe is a fantastic tool to use for determining how far down the soil is moist (or dry). After use, I can tap it gently on the side of the pot and any damp soil chunks will fall off the probe and it's ready to test the next plant. It looks nice enough that I leave it in a pot as decoration and looks a lot better than a giant, goofy-looking digital probe. It's very heavy, and great quality. I will certainly update if I notice any rusting or corrosion problems, but if it doesn't have that, this is a sure-fire tool that will last forever.
